Hi,

Well sorting through the Autechre marathon set list there's
a quite a bit of John Foxx in there. He was also played at
Aphex's Traffic Festival set. Anyways, I've been a fan of
him for quite a while and it's good to see his old stuff
FINALLY be played by DJs. He's rereleasing his (underrated
classic) debut Metamatic in double CD format soon, aswell as
playing the WHOLE of Metamatic and a lot of its B-sides live
on a small tour soon.

Get into his stuff. Go see his shows. He's great.

Metamatic site
Myspace

Check him out,
Future Image.

Check out the rest of the metamatic B-Sides, I'm pretty sure
you'll like Glimmer. Are you referring to the Metamatic
vocal tracks? They may have vocals but they're still
excellent.

And anyway Metamatic was released in 1980, so it's not like
really cheesy Fairlight shit, it's cold Kraftwerky stuff.

going though an early 80's phase at the moment and just
bought The Garden which is so ahead of its time!! Can't wait
to get hold of Metamatic.

Cathedral Oceans sounds interesting, love the album title...
anyone got this one?

Cathedral Oceans is one of the best ambient albums ever
made. I would not even hesitate to buy it.

Metamatic is very different to The Garden... much more like
Kraftwerk whereas The Garden I always see as a response to
Midge Ure's Ultravox.

BTW there's three volumes of Cathedral Oceans - the 3rd has
a really good DVD so I'm told, I really must invest in
them.

Metamatic is such a great album.

In other news it looks like Ultravox have reformed and are
doing a tour next year!

Ure, it's the line up from 1980

Yeah, Ure (unfortunately?). I can't see the Foxx-era
Ultravox reforming though, I don't think Foxx himself would
go there. :( oh well, he's still brilliant solo anyway. he
puts out so much every year as well as doing usually several
tours.
