in all seriousness, what is this song about?

let's all get up and dance to a song that was a hit
before your mother was born. though she was born a long long
time ago, your mother should know

Maybe it's about a song which was popular before your mother
was born, yet a song so popular that, despite its pre-dating
her, she should know.

well yes that makes sense, but i feel there is more to it.

The song has a certain seriousness to it that makes we
wonder if there is any other hidden meaning.

Doubtful. The Beatles like nonsense for the sake of nonsense
rather than deal with any great subtext.

Doesn't it have a hidden spectral image in it?

I've got that book ''A Hard Day's Write'', LET ME JUST REACH
OVER AND GRAB IT.

It just says it's inspired by his dad's old music when he
was in jazz and ragtime bands, and also his Aunt Gin and
Uncle Harry who were staying with him when he wrote the
song. It was the kind of shit they liked. Also says Paul was
thinking that any song his mother would have known would
have been a hit before she was born, in 1909, when hits were
determined not by record sales but by sales of sheet music.

DEEEEEEEEEEEEP

I love that song

it makes sense to me, being a big beatles fan, yet being
born a quarter of a decade after they split up.

i can't imagine how it would be to have had parents that had
no musical knowledge or interest.

the beatles that any normal person should ever have.
