do you have good or bad posture? i assume that the answer
is no for obvious 'this is xltronic and we are all
self-confessed geekzoid' reasons. however, my point is, i
was watching a family video of myself yesterday and i was
actually disgusted at my horrible posture. will anyone join
me on my mission for a perfect spine? i had some ideas. i
may start sleeping with a pillow under my lower back and a
pillow under my head. i will try to sit up straight (this is
proving as insanely difficult), and also i will try to stand
up straight as much as possible. another little annoyance is
that when i do try to stand up straight, i end up
feeling like a complete twit who is obviously trying to
impress someone. jesus! have you no mercy!?!??! all i want
is to look like a presentable self-respecting human being.
that is all

i have no idea how to help but bad posture costs me nearly a
foot in height.

i have quite good posture. once you have an awareness of it,
which you do, then you can start changing your habits.

try pulling your chair right into the desk, resting your
weight on the lower back, and shifting the monitor.

when you stand, you should always feel muscles working in
the middle of your back. its strange at first but that
becomes habit. roll your shoulders back slightly, hold the
upper body up with the muscles in your middle back, and lift
your chin

ive found that good posture has a great impact on my mood.
you really notice the difference sitting upright in the
presence of a group of people with their chins on the
tables.

there are some good clips on youtube on alexander technique,
which essentially a way to train yourself to have good
posture.

part of it is to straighten your spine daily by lying on a
hard floor with a book under your head. if youtube wasn't
being a bitch at the moment, i would have lazy_linked them.

i used to slouch and hold my head really low all the time
and probably still do a bit. my parents thought it was
depression-related or something, but actually it was because
i was so tall that i would bang my head on everything if i
didn't.

if u can manage to sleep on your back (which i cannot) try
sleeping with a pillow under your knees, it will straighten
your back
