"Homeless people are persons, not pigeons.… The majority of them don't use drugs, the majority of them aren't dangerous to the general population" Ha ha ha! B O L L O C K S! I don't have a problem with homeless people, or indeed giving them food or shelter, but the notion that the majority of them aren't addicted to drugs of some kind, even if that drug is 'only' alcohol is laughable. Anyway, superb photos chaosmachine, really nice work. |

Yes. As much as I have had great conversations with a lot of homeless people, I don't think you can find one that isn't one form of addict or another. Either their addiction brings them to the street, or they find it on the street, but its there. I have seen even some of the nicest most level headed homeless people I know with needles in their arms or crackpipes dangling out of their mouths. Its very sad. Most of these people need homes. Unfortunately, as soon as you give people free housing, a whole bunch of the wrong kind of people move in and try to claim it. They really need to look into a sweeping reform with how hoboism is dealt with. A solution I would like to see is a subsidized housing project where the builders are homeless people who are making the housing as well as learning valuable skills through it, and making a small amount on top of their free room and board. I don't think very many people have considered such and idea, but I think its more than plausible. |
