Is there any way to automate a time signature change in FL?
If not I fear I may be reaching the limitations of this saucy little program. Sad days...
Thankz guyz xoxo

Yes, you can. Right click the tempo 'lcd', then "edit events". There's another way to do it too, but that's longer/more complex.

Wicked, cheers Ceri! It was giving me brain lesions jumping from 5/4 to 4/4 and back again manually.

You're welcome. Yeah, working out the programming for different time signatures/tempo manually is possible, but it doesn't half make your head hurt. ;)

If you right click the tempo, surely that will only control the tempo, not the time signature?

On the step sequencer, in the top-left corner, there is a little box where you can set the time-signature for that particular pattern.

Fruityloops studio 5. If you want a bar of 4/4 followed by a bar of 5/4 then just set it to 11. Obviously you can't split it into quavers (e.g. 7/8) which is a bit of a shame, although maybe you can if you change the root in Song Info - try it out :]

oh shit yeh i know what you mean. how many beats there are in that bar as opposed to the whole time signature.

i have just checked and Ceri JC is a smelly liar. that does just change the tempo. it appears I was right and there is no way to automate the full time signature.
WHY GODS WHY?!

If you're wanting a static time signature throughout, then it's just a question of hitting F11 and then going into General... no way to automate it using the Graph Option, but it's not too much of a hassle using the Step Sequencer.

this is all stuff i know. i desire more complex changes sometimes though things like 5/4 -> 6/6 -> 3/4 etc. I will work as I have always done for now :)

Sorry - I thought you would be familiar with the Project Settings, but just thought I'd check :]
6/6 is just two lots of 3/4 - You'll just to convert crazy time signatures in base 4 - like 7/8 would be 14 (14/4 which is two lots of 7/8).
Since most time signatures have a root of 2/4/8/16, it's an easy enough conversion - and if you use the Playlist, you don't have to use a full bar, you can overlap another bar over the top, if you see what I mean.

you could also make seperate wav's of the 4/4 part(s) and 5/4 part(s) of the track and paste them together using wavelab or some sort

Also, you could compose in Sibelius, import the MIDI file to FL, and it should automatically do the time-signatures.

yeh 'overlapping' is how i do it at the moment. Just looks a mess in the nice rows of boxes!
Fah: I do that a lot anyway, quite a few of my tracks are different versions of the same thing stitched together in Audacity afterwards. (see the first track here. when it drops to 4/4 thats a 'overlapping' and when it goes to the outro/intro to next song thats a 'stitch')

Whoops! You're quite right Marlowe, I misread the question (I thought he wanted tempo and time signature changes) and ommited to mention about having to alter the programming based around which time sig you wanted to use and that the tempo change would help you do this.
