Just got my copy of The Caretaker - Deleted Scenes/Forgotten Dreams today. Really enjoying it. Superb ambient and as the blurb suggests it's a lot brighter and more cheerful in mood than previous caretaker offerings (particularly the most recent, "theoretically pure anterograde amnesia"). In places it has that almost heavenly euphoric feel of Eno's "An Ending (ascent)". It's a double album, but there are no real distinctions between tracks, it just sort of morphs between them, creating the feel of a long ambient mix.
Well worth checking out, even if the other Caretaker material wasn't to your taste.

You said the right combination of words to make me really want to check this out. Never heard of this "Caretaker" before.

The original Caretaker albums were ambientish ones made from samples of old ballroom music, a lot like the music from The Shining. The more recent releases still sound a bit like this, but are so altered that the source material is no longer as apparent.

Yeah, I couldn't find the one you were talking about on slsk, so I'm checking out "Selected Memories From The Haunted Ballroom."
I hope it's as dark as the name suggests.

That's a pretty good one, it was the first album. The second one, "A stairway to the stars" has some real gems on it too.

The track "Emptiness" is probably my favourite off that. I used to always use it as an opening and closing track when DJing.
