me playing piano!

I've never recorded myself play before (except for overlong
improvs years ago), so I thought I'd start off with
something fairly easy, Clementi: Piano Sonatina In C Major.

Some of the passages are a tad over-rushed I feel - a bit
nervous doing it (plus quite a few takes to play without
fluffing wear down one's resolve!), so apologies there.
Also, I've had three cups of strong coffee!

Anyway, I hope people like it, I love the piano.

its a beautiful instrument, i just wish i could play a lot
better like that. i can improvise resonably well, but can't
read bass clef or play anything other than chords with the
left hand, which is odd, as i'm left handed. i seem to have
a mental block, i just can't pick it up.

Yeah, it's all in the mind - you have to transcend and view
the two hands separately yet together at the same time. I've
always advocated playing Bach to work towards this, plus
with his pieces you will work towards applying that to all
the fingers, not just the two hands.

yikes, thats quite the discipline. i got the learn to play
the piano thing with the Independent and just looking at it
makes me feel stupid. i've always advocated that you dont
need to be able to read music or play it to be able to write
it, and whilst i still belive that, i'm eternally jealous of
people who can play to a professional standard. hiss.

it's weird hearing a real piano recording, there are lots of
extraneous noises going on!

haha yeah - My piano is in my front room, which has wooden
flooring, which will explain any creaking which my be
audible. Also, I know you can hear the keys being struck but
I was using the in-built microphone of my laptop :) Thanks
for listening.

Andy: to become quite competent at the piano isn't too
taxing: you just have to practice your scales and arpeggios
to begin with - these will familiarise you with the spacial
layout of the keyboard and improve your touch.

After that, there are a few important technical things, but
that's only really if you're interested in becoming more
than competent.

I'm actually working on a kind of.. I don't know, it's a
quick 3/4 tiersen/amelie-ish thing right now.. so far it's
only a sketch, I need to get some continuity into it, but I
kind of keep just playing (in a double sense) and making up
new stuff, and even though it goes well together, it doesn't
give you that kind of continuity that lets you know it's a
unitary track. Of course, many of my tracks lack this
quality anyway, but when it's pure piano music, such things
become more apparent; I can't keep the drums going in the
same pattern or the bass or whatever. It's just more
apparent that it's a patchwork.

However, if I can manage to type it out as sheet music (when
I finish it), would you record it? I love the sound of the
piano and all the room ambience and everything!

Man I love feed the birds. It gives me chills especially
when the choir comes in; it's like epic, and better than the
entire drukqs album.

These are both great.
