Man!! My new flatmate of 3 months neglected to mention she had not paid the rent for the last 2 months and is moving out leaving me liable for £1000. Plus about £500 bills...Does anyone else have any horror flatmate/ housemate stories... Before that I had a lovely flatmate for 5 years who never skipped a bill either...it is so stressful dealing with people when they lie to you about this kind of thing |

boy, i've got plenty of experience in that department. i'm not sure if it works the same over there when you rent, but were both of you on the lease agreement? were all the utilities in your name only? i've been on both sides of that fence and i can try and offer some help if you need any advice. the first time i moved to vegas, it was with a friend (kirk) that i had grown up with on the same street. he was real cool. he's little younger than me but he was the manager of joint at the food court inside the mission viejo mall and got me a job there right after i got outta jail when nobody else would hire me. at the time i was living with another friend (ryan) who's a little older than me, that was a robotics engineer and owned his own metal fab shop, whom i had met right before i went to jail. ryan was letting me sleep on his couch while i got back on my feet kinda free of charge just whatever i could afford to throw his way kinda deal whenever ya know. turns out, the owners of the house he was renting decided to sell the house and we had to be out in 30 days. well things were more or less fine and dandy for him, he was just gonna move back in with his parents while he shopped for a house to buy himself. unfortunately i didn't have that luxury since i had long dried up that well. but fortunately at this time kirk was offered a job running a kiosk at carnival court in front of harrahs casino and imperial palace right on the strip in vegas. since everything was being provided by the company he worked for he offered me a room as long as i got a job within a month. we would just split travel cost, since he wasn't 21 i paid for the moving truck rental and he paid for the gas. ryan wanted me to pay a couple months back rent he said i owed him but i kinda shrugged it off as too i wouldn't have had to go through all this trouble of coming up with $600 imediately if we hadn't got the boot. long story short, i got a job @ mc d's w/in a month, they wanted me to become store manager... |

kirk turned into a crackhead and tried to steal all my stuff so his sister could move in to my room instead because she was the one who helped him become a crackhead when she moved in cuz their mom kicked her out right after she graduated. and so i had a friend (pat) drive all the way up from socal on a moments notice to help me get all of my shit out the next day before anything else happened. then that morning kirk kicked the door in to my room and socked me in the eye while i was still in bed. my friend pat calls the cops from his cell phone, just then kirks sister jumps on pat trying to wrestle the phone away from him and we managed to fight our way through the front door while on the phone with the police during the whole struggle. the cops show up later, they see the lump on my face and go up to arrest kirk. they ask him what happened and he actually tells them the fucking truth so that everything corroborates with my signed witness statement i just filled out. since we were both on the lease for the apartment, i have to have him sign me off. of course he tells the cop to eat shit. which meant, that i had to leave vegas with broken lease on my credit history... |

also happened to me. one of my housemates did a runner and the other one couldnt afford to cover the extra and so left as well. i moved out not long after and when it came to wrapping everything up realised that we had'nt been on a legal contract for the last year of our tenancy. told the estate agents to go fuck themselves with the couple of grand we owed and there was nothing they could do. HURRAH! |

lol. sorry, no whippersnappers. i went to jail for a car accident i was involved in, which i was at fault for. incidentally, i didn't have any car insurance coverage at the time and since the driver of the other vehicle was critically injured... i had to find out the hard way that the state apparently frowns upon the occurence of such incidents. |

What is jail like; do they crowd you in a jail area with 10 other people and a toilet right in the middle? I'm just wondering for the time I and everyone else will inevitably have to go when we become a police state/world, I mean before they send us to concentration camps. |

when i was in jail they took me into a holding cell with like 20 other people and a toilet right in the middle, but lat er i was in another cell block with like 50 people some on cots and a commu nal toilet area then later my own cell. |

I bet they use humiliation of having to crap in front of people as a deterrant or an additional power on purpose; possibly rapings too. Ed Brown described how the IRS pulled his butt cheeks apart in front of a camera when he didn't pay taxes for example, simply as a power of humuliation. Fuckers. Being in jail without even a way to commit suicide would be hell. |
