Do I need to explain that Ice in a glass is one thing, Ice Stacked over the water level is more of what we're dealling with. stack icecubes in a glass till the ice is over the water level, melt it. grab a towel. use your head. these arent chunks of ice just floatting in the ocean. theyre mountains of Ice above the water level, the part of Antartica that is melting is bigger than Texas. |

Do you even know how much ice there is? Do you even know how much of it is over water? Ice floats, and the ice that is above water doesn't affect the water. Only the ice in the water displaces water. If the ice that is above water melts, there is more water. This mostly goes for the south pole and greenland, and basically everywhere where there is ice on top of solid ground. If the north pole melts, you aren't going to get a drastic increase in global sea level.. the real trouble starts when the south pole melts. |
