um, there's only one official one that i know of, and that's "Does humor belong in music?" ... it begins with one of the most beautiful renditions of Zoot Allures, and then the rest of it is just his shitty 80s "lol-funny" songs.. no more guitar..
There's been talk of a DVD of the Roxy concert being released for yeeeears now, so don't hold your breath for that. That'd be the best though, if it ever sees the light of day.
Check on Zappateers.org.
Whichever concert this is from would be the best. Best era, in my opinion, best band, and amazing sound/picture quality (broadcast on tv).

redrum - there are some selections from that roxy concert on the 'dub room special' DVD... approximate, florentine pogen, montana, inca roads, stink foot. there are also some really lame 1980s band stuff on that DVD too so watch out!
i'd love to see a DVD of this show...

that's probably my favourite era of zappa stuff too... about 1972 - 1975. my favourite style of zappa music and the most popular musicians too. george duke, ruth underwood, ian underwood, chester thompson, fowlers bothers... they always look/sound like the having an incredible time on stage.

linky?
if the concert i'm talking about was the dub room special, and the dub room special was released officially, then there's no chance of getting it off zappateers....

well the dub room special is just specific roxy songs (that youtube link of 'approximate' is one of them)... spliced together with an 80s concert, zappa in the dub room and bruce bickford animations.
so it could be on that zappateer site because it hasn't been released in full.
'baby snakes' is quite good sort of 'lather' era band - but the kind of moronic rock element is creeping through... i love stuff like 'punky's whips' and 'titties n beer', but i just can't get into things like nig biz at all

ah yeah. i probably have all the songs on movie already, as different .wmvs, but yeah, i'm getting it anyways.
it's a pity about all that claymation stuff.. i mean, it's interesting, but only to a point.. the same with the dodgy epileptic-fit-inducing editing....

the clay animation stuff on 'baby snakes' is better i think... i love the morphing - a person's face changing into a mountain and then zomming in really close and seeing a car driving around it. it's really interesting stuff.
i agree it seems kind of tacked on though... i'd love to see the actual billy the mountain and greggary peccary animations - synched to the music.

well yeah that's what i mean too... that i could watch the bickford stuff by itself in the way it was done and watch the band play they way that was done... no switching between them annoyingly.
