By Jo Whiley.
He made the tune on the new Specsavers advert where there is two people in a swamp. Good, huh?

I hate specsavers, "designer" specs, adverts in general and that advert in particular. Next time it's on, I'll pay attention to the music.
How come all the really expensive so-called-designer specs of today look like those awful ones your dad wore in th 70s? They're bad. It's almost as if designers are taking the piss. nah, couldn't be.

Hedrex is the pseudonym he used, since he releases music under a different name.
It's not available on vinyl yet, though you can download the entire track for free on the Specsavers website.

It's a pretty good track, especially for one used on an advert. I've listened to it 3/4 times on repeat and enjoyed it (and that's coming from someone who considers themselves tired of drum and bass). Please pass my congratulations to your mate.
Has he got any more tracks online?

Oh, this is the only d&b stuff he's done, the rest is quite downtempo stuff.

What's his regular artist name? I noticed you said hedrex wasn't his usual one and there are lots of artists on the label page.

By a process of IDM deduction I worked out it was Heavy Deviance, though I may be wrong.
Well done by the way, to Bob's mate.

I want a Grinning Ape track as the soundtrack to an Argos, Macdonald's or Kwik Fit advert, by the end of the year. Thank you.
On the subject of adverts (and indeed Argos) I'd love to see an anti-walmart version of the Asda advert. Instead of the "backside slap", it could cut between a double slap in the face of the people who provide them with the produce, the customers and their staff. The slap could be accompanied by a dubstep style "slapping snare". Think of it, "That's Asda price *thwack* *thwack*".
Surely there are enough anti-capitalist multimedia folk out there to make my dream a reality?

Bearing in mind I haven't seen a UK advert in 3 years but I'd quite like to see that awful bloke who used to do the Halifax adverts tackle "What the Beat".

I am made up for Bob's mate, I would love a tune of mine to be played on the radio.
I hate the advert and the music though.
Oh and Halifax make the most ANNOYING FUCKING ADVERTS IN THE FUCKING WORLD. They are so smug and conceited I want to slash the face of every fucking person in them. Seriously, I hate them to an unnatural level. I've never known 30 seconds of TV to have such an effect on anyone but I can't help it I just get AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
