known just as the guy that did Nintendo Breaks Vol 1.

It`s really good ... why don`t you go make something else
then come back to this? If you don`t know what to do no
point in ruining a good thing just for the sake of ADDING
stuff.

actually I quite like it, perhaps its just a short song?
The Melodies are quite whimical, and the drums add a nice
contrast to the dancing melody. I definitely wouldnt
abandon it

How do you get your drums to not bleed together at such a
high tempo? When ever I go above 180 my drums become
terrible sounding

Careful EQing to separate the frequencies of each percussion
instrument?

hmmm I'll give it a shot, though I must admit (and im sure
it shows through my music) that I have no real idea as to
what Im doing with EQ. Thanks!

i use pretty small samples for the drums

also i program it at double bpm (this track file is 489 bpm
or something) so you have twice as much room to work in it

like working at a higher resolution by doubling the bpms?

Just get a 10-band frequency EQ plug-in and experiment. At
its most simple:

01:: Cut the high-mid for kick-like percussion (although
accentuate it if you're going for a punchy kick).
02:: Cut the lower end for snare-type (this sharpens them
slightly and will ensure they won't clash with the kick)
03:: Very slightly cut the mid-range for hats (this adds a
little sparkle to your hats and stops them interfering with
your snare).

Warning: I did just make that up completely, but at first
glance it seems sound enough.

then add more melody.

My suggestion would be to try to make a different kind of
music. I am not trying to be sarcastic here, it sounds like
you have been making this music for a long time and might be
stuck in a bit of a rut with your question. Maybe try making
some hiphop or dub or something.

Maybe you just need to slow it down and turn it into a dub?

i would divide it a in a different way. i would continue the
drums from before the the breakdown at 30 seconds with that
melodic content that goes at the breakdown so you don't fire
all you ammunition off at once. make it a little longer (the
breakdown) and then go to this very peaceful part like the
second half, then you should make like a ueber-break and
toss that hard drums from 30 second and all your melodic
content jsut adding and adding till everything finishes in a
mindblowing stacato and then just cut it off at half a beat
and rant wanting to be
known just as the guy that did Nintendo Breaks Vol 1.

I think the melodies and sounds you make use of are pretty
nice, and maybe it's just me, but I think you should put
your drum programming ability to better use. The
insanely-fast drum thing just doesn't excite me the way it
used to. I'm not saying I don't like this song (or elements
of it), I'm just saying I wouldn't buy an album of this type
unless it was really, really, well done.

what about putting some snares and drum fun into the end
togehter with the melody at the end?

you could start with just drums for a note lenght you
played,
then have the melody back for one note, then the drums
again
in other words, every second note should be some drums /
snares
and some loops later play them altogether

hope you got what i meant

"How do you get your drums to not bleed together at such a

terrible sounding "

If your using loops, use a good time stretching program. For
the longest time when using ACID I would be like "Why the
fuck do these drums sound like shit ?!?!?" so I would do the
old resquence per part.

BUT

When life gets busy and you don`t got time to go that route
(cause resequencing can be a pain in the ass ... for what
I`m doing anyway) I suggest finding a program that will
speed up the BPM of your loop ... but smart.

I downloaded Fruityloops, and used it soley for it`s
BEATSLICER. I would resequence the drums to match my super
fast BPM, then export the wav out.

Try it, works really good, and if you strapped for time but
need some fast breaks, thats one way to go.

I got the Idea when I met Blaerg this summer. He uses
FLstudio, and his drums are tight, the best sounding breaks
anywhere if you ask me.

sometimes I do the whole cut up every drum and then sequence
everything one hit at a time, but like you said its so time
consuming I start to loose track of the concept in general

The best program for that is impakt by native instruments.
Its insane how easy they made that program for beat
chopping, mapping and remapping. You can come up with dozens
of good variations on a loop that are logically mapped in
minutes.
