You must have a very precise clock.

It's a funny joke because it lacks any sober logic or
meaning.

Oh wait, I think I understand now since I accidently spent
time thinking about it, but there is still the matters of 1)
pi having a decimal place, not a colon 2) the inability to
accurately measure an infinite string of numbers

That one homestar runner where he gave someone's halloween
costume last place then someone else worst place was great.

I was actually talking about pi in a paper I wrote
yesterday. I'm no mathematician, so perhaps I didn't
understand the finer points of it, but I got the impression
from Melfi and Dodge's paper "Random Number Generators and
Rare Events in the continued Fraction of Pi" that they had
proven Pi's decimal places were random.

I did wonder how exactly they could do this, as surely they
could only prove the first n numbers were?

If you can say they all are based on this, why can't you
make the same sweeping generalisations about prime or weird
numbers (both have properties we have proven up to a point,
but as you say, how can we say that's true for all of them?)

they invented some fancy workaround because having to prove
stuff that's infinite became tiresome or something.

How come you can't do this for higher (undiscovered) primes
and weird numbers? I always see he clause "...up to x.xx X
10^y" tacked onto the end of statements made regarding them.

they haven't figured out the workaround for them yet I
guess

I'll ask a friend who does maths.

As a ratio, it can cope with the irrational pi.

{ugh... can't believe I even commented on this}

mathematical induction, apparently.

I will apparently be receiving an oral presentation of the
subject the next time we get drunk so I may be able to give
you some random broken sentences about it if that article
doesn't make sense.
