Does anyone watch this? I've downloaded the first two and a
half series and think it's fantastic. I'd heard that it was
pretty good (especially compared to its stellar UK
relation), and was hoping it would have its moments, but
it's just surpassed all my expectations for it. I can't wait
to download this week's episode on Friday!

Don't get all faux deprecating, it's a not an endearing
American feature.

I loved the development in Episode 12 of this series -- when
Jan admitted she didn't know why, but that she had feelings
for him. It made me feel warm that, even though he's such a
repugnant man, he had his chance at happiness.

I'm impressed how they've stretched plot lines from the UK
version and managed to eke them out... so only a third of
the way through Season 3 does the merger happen, when it
happened in Episode 7 of The Office UK.

Awesome, awesome show

I quite enjoyed the American office, but I reckon the UK
version has the edge because Brent is a more repulsive man,
and unaware, horrid individuals make me laugh. I found the
US version good, but the boss is more likable imo.

I haven't watched my Office DVDs in quite some time, but I
don't remember Brent being this inept.

haven't had many bosses like Brent or carrol, but I have had
a butt load of bosses like the one in Office Space.

For a long time I thought the actor who plays Dwight was
also in the movie Happiness which I hadn't seen for a while.
Then I found out the actor who played the character in
Happiness isn't in the Office but plays Capote in the movie
Capote I sar. Seems obvious now but you could see how I
could get them confused... maybe.

I was ready to hate the American Office but it's very good.
Still prefer Brent though.

I was suprised at how good the us version is, obviously
pales in comparison with the UK version but i find that the
character development in the us one is as absorbing as the
uk one

is it any different, or just a word-for-word copy of the BBC
one with yankee actors?

Its quite different. Only the US pilot actually used the
same format as a UK episode, the rest are all rewritten and
quite different.

Yeah its surprisingly good, but there are things that just
don't work as well. Dwight is nowhere near as funny (or
convincing) as Gareth. Likewise Keith's equivalent. It works
best when its not trying to copy what's good about the UK
one.

cs2x, I can't relate to the repulsive thing. I don't think
Brent is unlikable. He's a kind of sympathetic character.

i like the episodes that i have seen. then again i am
american, so this may have a lot to do with my enjoyment of
the series. people have complained that the newer episodes
suck, but i've yet to see any.

I suppose you're right, because I did end up feeling very
sorry for him at the end of series 2. During series 1,
though, his constant lying and apparent arrogance made him
enjoyably detestable.
