All Dubstep:
ASBO ("All Sound Bwoy Out")- Absolute quality. A release by them is inevitable. (Hint) they're an alias for 2 famous existing dubstep artists collaborating. Sadly, their myspace has been removed, so you can no longer hear the brilliant "ASBO1"
Scarecrow - Recently made his 12" debut ('taken' is the B-side to Search and Destroy's "Wavescape" and IMO the far better track), but judging by his myspace (here) we can expect more. Horror themed to the point of it being a bit over the top and comical if you're in the wrong frame of mind, but well scarey if you're up for it.
Zomby - Quite why he's not had a release of his Spliff Dub EP yet, I don't know. It was supposed to be out ages ago, but it still hasn't surfaced.
Can't work out why the later pair have had so few plays of the tracks.
Hope you like them.

I heard some of scarecrow. The horror theme was done well, just not my cup of pee. I really liked the calm of Zomby kept simplistic done very well for relaxing. "No U Turn" is my fav//
Theres a Bacardi Mojito commercial on tv here in the states that has some Dubby style music playing to the bartenders crush of mint in the bottom of a glass.. Refreshing.
ASBO.... Tell all :)
Sound Bwoy reminds me of DTL am I close in guessing one of the artists in the collab?

I've came to the conclusion the vast majority of Grime is fucking wank (in fact almost all of it). I think I am just getting old.

Well, young people buy anything. You're just more discerning. There's only so much pop music, by any other name, a soul can take. I never paticularly liked jungle / dnb when it came out but it's like every successive generation wishes they'd come up with it and attempt to reinvent with increasingly pisspoor results. Fuck the kids, I say. Not literally.

I personally Like a Lot: . Emalkay; . Burial; . some of Skream's music; .This Scarecrow 's "Taken" tune; And such mysterious and open-minded stream on the genre!
Not much onto minimal, grimey and hip hop crossovers though!

If you like instrumental Grime (and most of it is nearer Grime in composition than Dubstep, even though they're instrumentals) could I recommend the "100 Grime Instrumentals", compilations. For the money, a great way of hearing lots of different artists and seeing what you like. This ebay shop has both vol. 1 and 2 of the compilations available. I got my ones from them and they're legit copies, rapid dispatch and very cheap (plus they actually have the compilations in stock unlike most places).

Have to agree on the MRK1 LP, thought it was pretty average and disappointing, especially since he's put out lots of good stuff in the past.
I love a lot of dubstep stuff, but I think that the best thing that has came out so far is the Milanese LP on Planet Mu. It's dark and heavy as fuck, and just absolutely killer.

Skream is ok. growing on me..
Vex'd was big for me.. dammit I want more tho
I like "heavy as fuck" dubstep more so than ragga dubstep....
has anyone hear heard any of the Distance my demons release?

Kromestar - Surgery is probably still the best track to come out of the genre for me. I think a lot of the more grimey stuff he has done under the "Iron Soul" alias is a bit weak compared to his more recent output though.
BTW, dunno if you've heard it Vlari, but I reckon you'd really like Mala (of DMZ)'s "Left Leg Out". It's like a weird hybrid of dubstep and driving minimal techno and is absolutely brilliant.

yes, check out Kromestar's 'Surgery'. It's huuuge.
erm, Digital Mystikz are usually pretty solid, the best track for me is definately "Haunted" on this. Anti-War Dub is a killer as well (featured in Children Of Men, if you've seen it)
Caspa keeps a very high standard on his tracks. Awesome samples.
Other artists worth checking out are Benga, Kudos, Toasty, Vex'd of course, Bass Clef, Omen, Moving Ninja. Oh, and watch out for Reso this year.

Same here. With at lot of the artists that aren't really my cup of tea, at least I can see why other people like it. Not so with Vex'd. I think Degenerate is a weak album and The Bombardment of Saturn EP isn't much better. Only thing they've done that I've thought was okay was the remix for Search & Destroy's "Wavescape". Even if you like their particular style of Dubstep, Boxcutter does something similar, but so much better.

On Blue Notez, I really like the way I keep expected it to be drenched in delay/reverb, but in places the sound is cut really short, give it an abrupt, menacing feel.

I think Skream is one of the most overrated dubstep artists (I actually reckon he's more a grime instrumental artist, but that's another discussion). Not a patch on Pinch if you ask me.
Yes, Midnight Request Line is great, 0800 Dub is pretty good, but a lot of his other work is fairly forgettable. I've got Skreamizm Vols 1 & 2 and I must have only listened to them about two or three times (bar 0800 dub). Likewise, his album is full of filler. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad, but there are much better artists out there than him that don't get half the recognition.

this label seems promising, they have hour long mix sets up for download on their wwebsite that are pretty viscious.

I was listening to a Blackmass Plastics track earlier tonight and didn't think much it. Any recommendations of specific tracks/mixes?
Here's a rec. for you, The "Chi Flute" single by wonder. All 3 tracks are pretty good. I was rather underwhelmed by his album as nothing else on it is as good as these 3 tracks. The stuff on the album is generally more grimey than these, so that may well just be my own tastes. The chap who did it was a founding member of Roll Deep, but has taken an interesting direction. It leans more towards dubstep, but you can hear his Grime roots in it too. I didn't really like it at first, but Chi Flute grew on me after a few listens and Undertaker after that.
Not a mindblowing release, by any means but quite original and worth a listen.

Dubstep more so than grime.
I'll check out your rec.
