haha that looks hilarious. is it actually useful and unique
or is it just old and shit?
either way, it has a floppy drive.

Yes, just out of interest, what's the appeal of old
sequencers? I like using old sequencers on individual old
bits of gear (and in fact, I think the 606 style interface
of some drum machines is actually better than
cubase/reason/live's ones for beats with no
syncopation/groove). I know happy mistakes sometimes arise
using things like the 303s interface (accidentally put a
note one step forward or back, etc.) that actually sound
good sometimes.

However, I can't imagine doing all my sequencing on an old,
slow/fiddly to load computer. Do they offer any features
newer sequencers have scrapped, or is it just a case of
you've used them for years and never saw the need to
change?

Thats an MPC dude. Its been and is the standard in the
hiphop community. Its totally usefull. Sounds ace too.

I use Opcode Vision... for 10-15 years now (jesus im old.)
It has all the features I need to produce, and I know it
like the back of my hand (no masterbation jokes kplzthx).

Newer software can let you do every damn thing you
never wanted to do... but it does it all!
Seriously though... the interface might be dated, but the
functionality and quickness that you can get an idea out of
your head and into a midi sequence, it's unmatchable.

dont knock the mmt-8 - i used one for yeeears..

it really shines if your doing pre-sequenced rhymthic stuff,
but making backups of the memory was a bitch, as I'm sure
Fah can testify. :)

you ever tried saving sequences made on a MC202? same bitch

well, i use this bitch but not very often any more because
it's really a pain in the ass to tweak pitches with 5v knobs
that are not even calibrated together :p

LAZY_SQ-10

but to make acid sequences or weird noises/fx it's a
killer!

too bad i lost my plug converter for it so no more sq-10
madness for the moment :(

with the sq-10 i can save the sequences on tape like any
signal, but for it to be calibrated and faithfully playback
it has to be checked before every recording/saving of data
and tuned with a reference signal...
lol, long live digital sequencers for ease of use !

I like Cakewalk Sonar 3 and Pro Tools, but the MPC1000 is
great to create a beat quickly. I couldn't do without all
that wonderful audio trickery new sequencers offer, though;
it's too fun.
