Solvent music

I just love music that acts as a kind of solvent, and seems
to dissolve the current reality and bring you into another
realm of memory / atmosphere. That depends mostly on the
music, but also on the mood, so it only happens in one in a
thousand tracks.

I have been drinking some red wine and feel a bit deep /
pretentious now.

Is there some music that evocates that kind of feeling in
you?

Nah, it's a good feeling.

I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn't even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn't even matter

SAW II

Or if you are in a romantic mood, i'd reccomend some more
red wine and some Curtis Mayfield or Van Morrison, while you
contemplate love with the one you love.

two albums.

SAW II by far. I remember the review sticker on it: "If the
monolith in 2001: A Space Odyssey could communicate, it
would sound like this." I love that imagery.

i remember that sticker! wish i kept it.

most of Tangerine Dream does that to me. and a lot of
autechre's calmer stuff too. try lying down when its dark
and listening to it. has to be something ethereal and
ambient.

I don't have the soundtrack handy in MP3 form but
Galbadia Hotel has it all, kind of a pain to download all
those short tracks though. Try these, some of my faves-

Winters White
Snowman
The Return Home
Home Sweet Home
Onett
Paula's Theme
Moonside Swing
Insane Cultists, the coolest fight theme EVER

Weird lo-fi music but it's not too unlike his other stuff,
very minimal, quirky atmospheres. I love his style.

I've tried getting stuff from that place before

why, oh why, do they have that weird system where you have
to click twice to get anything?!

Because you can pay to download entire soundtracks in one
click with no hassle. I feel like paying because of how
annoying they make it to download stuff. But I don't because
I'm cheap.

I usually listen to this and all SNES soundtracks in
.SPC format, not MP3.
