when i play video files my computer blocks and it says this in event viewer; "AMLI: ACPI BIOS is attempting to write to an illegal IO port address (0xcf8), which lies in the 0xcf8 - 0xcff protected address range. This could lead to system instability. Please contact your system vendor for technical assistance."
i just reinstalled my system because i thought it would solve my problem but it didn't..now i think i have a hardware problem but i don't know how to find out which part(s) is broken. any ideas?

Have you updated your drivers for your video card, sound card and anything else you have? If you haven't, you should do that and see if that fixes it.
After that, you might have a look around your BIOS to see if there's anything you can do there. Choosing "fail-safe" settings, if your BIOS has that option, might be the easiest. If you still can't fix it, then you should try updating your BIOS. You'll have to find the make of your motherboard, and get the update from the manufacture's website for that. Everyone always gives warnings about messing in the BIOS because if something goes wrong, your motherboard is a doorstop; but I've never had any trouble.
If that doesn't fix it, I do not know. It could be some of your hardware behaving badly. About the only way to find out what would be to disable it or remove it a piece at a time and see if the problem goes away.
It seems to be one of those stupid, involved problems that has a different cause for everyone. Good luck.
