Here's a really good mix by a DJ called Dowee. Listen to this, because in about ten years time when you are all listening to Venetian Snares' "grimecore" album, you can say you were into it all along.

I would have said that grime had vocals. I'm downloading it now, and havent listened to this yet, but also i think that dubsteb is always a slow super bassy grinding beat, while grime can be quite uptempo also (but also be slow and grinding)

As from an MC, grime generally has a more "cluttered" sound, lots of fast hitting claps and closed hi hats. There's less of a fixation with really low frequencies (although bass is still prominent) and the synths tend to be a bit cheesier.
In mood sounds generally tense and aggressive, whereas dubstep is more a sort of aprehension and building fear.
Dubstep > Grime, IMO.

I haven't listened to all of it yet, but based on the tracklisting and the first 10 minutes I'd say, yes, it's more dubstep than grime.

I'm no expert, but i favour Ceri's explanation here. Grime to me is the grittier stuff, at times it seems almost hip hop (hence the tendency for emcee'ing).
I like dubstep better, but only coz i've pigeonholed it in my own mind as the more lush version of grime (ie. burial) with less presets going on, lesser appeal for rappers and more instrumentalist
this mix is grime to me

it is just good music , danceable too

There's a general feeling in the Dubstep community that Rephlex's "Grime 2" is actually all Dubstep.
DP: I reckon Raptor's "Hustlin' " is grime, rather than dubstep.
Personally (and I know most people would disagree with this), I think part of the reason Scream's stuff is so popular with Grime Mcs is that in terms of composition and sound, it's about halfway between dubstep and grime.

But the line between like "instrumental grime" and "dubstep" is so so thin, it's pathetic.
It's only on this board you could have a discussion like this, and thats what i love about it. In most peoples ears it would simply be "hiphop" or whatever.

No i don't :(
I really love it as well. The track Bruza is playing doesnt use that beat originally, but it kicks as with this beat. Thats a thing thats a bit annoying with grime, a beat is created and theres 10 different versions of it, and everyobdy uses the fresh beats live. I guess it also keeps the community alive and all that, but grime tends to be filthyer and grimier live, than on the albums, because most of the mc's want to break through and don't want to sound to harsh on their debuts (Kano is a good example, awesome live, boring album)

It's virgo - down, the original i think but there's tons of different versions doing the rounds.
Decent mix, this. Just wish it was better quality, 64k is a joke.
