OK, this album is really, really good. I had heard his name dropped a few times over the past few years, but I always cringe at anything dubbed "modern classical". But this works for me. The strings, ambient sounds, and melodies are really beautiful, and the whole album is just effortlessly easy to listen to from start to finish. My only gripe is the spoken word bits, but thankfully they only tend to last a few seconds. |

i just gave the album another listen. very short but sounds like a soundtrack to a good but a bit sad film. i'm gonna check his previous albums, but not "blue notebooks", as i've read it contains spoken word/recited poetry. that's not my thing. i'll skip to "memoryhouse" instead. |
