it depends.. I am opposed to centralizing control of all the countries, but it's better that they all cooperate. Of course, cooperation is often going to bring centralization with it, but it isn't a necessary thing and I think there could be less binding things that could work better than what is now.

the euro is definately a good thing, makes it a hell of a lot easier to travel. i think the EU is a good idea at least. it is overstretching itself by incorporating so many eastern european countries - it should make it a priority to raise their standards of living to the "old EU" average, at least before letting any other countries in.

The law side of things is a heap of shit and I cannot comprehend how it got a lot of its (self granted) legal powers in the first place.
A lot of the claimed benefits never really arrived, at least not in the UK. I don't really find travel any easier: I still have to get money changed when I go on holiday and I still get asked for my passport when I fly and searched when I come back from Amsterdam. I think there's nothing it has done that couldn't of been achieved through a trade alliance, rather than some weird pseudo-government that I cannot vote for.

I still have to get money changed when I go on holiday
that's due to euro-sceptics like yourself
I still get asked for my passport when I fly
9/11, yeah?
and what you said about the trade alliance isn't true. A system comparable to CAP, with CAP's flexibility, could never have been achieved without the EU.
also, i'd like to just say how much i hate how most euro-scepticism comes from brits, the same brits who have been milking the EU system (especially the agricultural subsidies), throw their arms up in the air when wholly unneccessary and unfairly balanced agricultural subsidies to the UK are decreased by any amount.. it's fucking annoying.

Yes, good example, the CAP is a really nice stealth tax on the poor.

CAP = probably a good idea. redrum's right, we and the frogs just moan about it all the time. it was a bit of a fuck-up back in the 70s/80s when it apparently took up 70% of the EU's whole budget and created the "grain mountains" and "wine lakes"
euro = good general idea of cooperation = good flag = pretty
