Observer monthly music mag features an interview in
september addition. i found the same piece here at
the bottom. The mag had a full length picture of Tom in a
garden with his 6 stringer and that famous pink shirt.

'There are all sorts of human idiosyncracy in the deeper
levels of computer architecture, in the interface and
circuitry design in synths. It depends how deep you want to
go.'

?

i'd agree with him there, and i don't think it's
self-righteous.

however, the fact that there's a human element to the
circuitry and low-level programming of machines doesn't
translate into a human element audible in the music played
BY such machines.

ive dropped any expectations long ago that squarepusher was
a good an interviewee as he is a musician. they cant all be
like autechre, who really do get it right in interviews i
reckon.

Still its nice hearing about some early influences and he's
obviously passionate about the bass though he dont need
words to show that.

'I originally wanted to play guitar, but an early insight
into the psychological make-up of guitarists put me off,'
says Jenkinson. 'I found myself drawn to the strange sonic
hinterland of the bass.'

ha ha

People only pick up the bass because it's easier than the
guitar, EVERYONE knows that.
