LEADER of the FREE WORLD

offline Mr Brazil from Oh Joan, I love you so... on 2006-09-24 23:27 [#01976846]

If this was you, what would you do? That is, if you were
the American President, what would you do with the powers
granted you by the people? Why the American President?
Because at this moment in history, America is the only
superpower and the President has the power to shift the
course of history for good or bad. Of course this wasn’t
always so and will not always be, but at the moment it is.

So, if you’re up to it, will you take the reins?

What kind of leader will you be?

Be serious about it if you can. Take into account all the
variables in play including whatever you know about the
various peoples of the world and so on. If you want to
dissolve the military, open all the borders, or nuke
everyone, understand the repercussions if any. And I’m
sure others on the board will point out what they think are
fallacies or grand ideas.

I’m particularly interested in what the
“revolutionaries/anarchists” of the board will do. If
you guys had the power of the President, with all sincerity,
what would you do?

So there you go.

Who wants to be the leader of the free world?

I wouldn't want that job. Its kind of one of those right
person for the right job. The important part is that they
are able to inspire respect and confidence in the public,
even those that don't believe in the same ideals. Bush isn't
the right kinda guy for that.

I cannot support the idea of me as a new world order
leader.

so i say that if there will be a "free" new world order, then
the "Leader" will be a woman.yes, will be a woman.

I agree with mate Ezkerraldean in the UN idea,but...
Maybe Condolezza Rice is waiting her chance to LEAD.

- try my best to reverse foreign policy of the past 50
years:
- end trade embargo against cuba
- mend relations with south american nations
- close guantanamo
- end "extraordinary rendition"
- repeal laws recently introduced which retroactively
legalise bush's wiretapping
- enact laws of proper environmental conservation, high
taxes and penalties on corporations found to be polluting
the environment
- higher taxes on high-earners, lower taxes on low-earners
- increase spending on social services by a huge amount
- decrease spending on the military by a huge amount
- cease donations of military aid
- reverse bush's decision to privatise social security
- replace bolton with someone else who'd be a more
appropriate ambassador to the UN
- try to instill a sense of respect for the UN and other
world nations in congress, the senate, in american culture
in general

the following would be of my belief, but i wouldn't
necessarily implement them. they'd be very difficult to
implement, and, in my opinion, less important than those
listed above:
- tighten gun controls
- legalise same sex union (not marriage)
- a few others i can't think of right now.

I'd have figured your ideas would be a little more
"extreme", but what you offer as Leader of the Free World is
quite reasonable. You're very rational.

I think the only reason same-sex unions haven't been passed
into law is that my country is a bit religious, or at least
our current leader(s) are. But why a union only and not
actual marriage? Do I detect a slight conservative bent in
you?

Drunken Mastah: What happens if while enjoying your whiskey
a country decides to assemble a rag-tag force of its
citizens to exact revenge on what you've done?

No unabomber offering anything? How about that chamber
noir(sp?) guy? Those guys always talk about how bad it is
over here. Well, what would you do? Anarchy! and Revolution!
all around, I suppose.

hello, thanks for the kind remarks. i expected my same-sex
comment to spark a furory of debate, but my post killed the
thread :)

as for same-sex union, and not marriage... i've always seen
the idea of "same-sex marriage" as a bit of a contradiction
in terms. Marriage is a religious rite and sacrament.
homosexuality defies the core teachings of most mainstream
religions and so therefore i think the idea of same-sex
marriage is ludacrous (sp? i'm drunk.)

so instead of imposing on religious organisations, i'd
propose a same sex union. this would benefit gay couples in
the way that marriage benefits heterosexual couples (with
tax allowances, etc.. my parents have alyways said that
marriage these days is, unfortunately, more like a financial
agreement than anything else.) so they'd be recognised as a
unit, but wouldn't be religiously married.

this would, however, piss off extreme gay rights activists,
who would see it as a "second-rate marriage"...

it's a tough one, but that's where i stand.. i just see the
idea of same sex marriage as completely nonsensical.

i hope this has made sense.

If you wanted to make it completely fair, you could strip
the term "marriage" completely from any sort of government
involvement, defining it as a strictly religious doctrine.
Then a civil union would be the most any 2 people could
obtain from the government.

Well, first of all, that thing you call The Free World, is
an illusion "that has been put in front of you, to blind you
from the truth".
Then, there's no such thing as a leader. Busch is a stupid
puppet controlled by the great corporations. Jesuschrist, he
knows no shit about anything and has absolutely no real
power off decission.

So, the question is...
What would I do if I was the face the money uses to slave us
in this world of misery while pretending it's the best there
is?

"I would shoot myself."

Really? That's not very anarchy like, definitely not
revolutionary. It's...well, a pussy move. I'd had figured
you'd had said something like, "Burn it to the ground!"
while listening to a Rage Against the Machine song. Or
something.

But really, you're the President, you can order the withdraw
of troops from Iraq, close military bases across the world,
put regulations on corporations, etc.

You know, it often sounds like your ethos of revolution and
anarchy is just something that you employ in your life as an
additive to your personal "story". Just to have something
exciting to be vaguely linked to. "Hey, I believe in
revolution!"

Kind of like back in high school with kids that dressed in
"gang" clothing/colors just to seem involved in something
while actually never belonging to a gang.

Look at what redrum wrote.

Do you have ideas?

offline unabomber from Palma de Mallorca (Spain) on 2006-09-29 01:07 [#01979338]
Points: 3756 Status: Regular

I have lots of ideas, but none includes the term "order".
And let me tell you Revolution is in your heart to die for
it, not in your mouth to live from it.
I gave up on this kind of discussion long ago.
I do what I think I got to do.
No need to explain.

And being an anarchist, what sense would it make to become
President and tell everyone what to do?
And the pussy move is to think the president can regulate
corporations, when in fact it's the other way.

And you know NOTHING about my life or my story.
I don't need something exciting to be vaguely linked to.
I live a meaningfull ultraexciting life.
And I never ever start an argument about politics.
I don't "employ" my political thoughts to get enganged in
silly discussions. I use them to lead me to the right
actions. In silence. I'm not a speech dude, I'm the one
throwing stones.

And what you figured I would say is a 16 years old boy
cliché.

offline unabomber from Palma de Mallorca (Spain) on 2006-09-29 01:15 [#01979341]
Points: 3756 Status: Regular

And the idea behind your questio is that it minds WHO is the
president. Something like that there can be a GOOD
president.
In fact, anarchists are against the idea of a government
whatever the government itself is.

Even good fella Redrum would become a licit target given the
chance he would become prsident under the anarchist agenda.
But I think he already nows that.

I'm sorry, but I just don't see it. I was half expecting an

Sorry. Maybe there's more in the text, but I can't read

but that's any street anywhere. I lived in those conditions

How the fuck did they meet their demise? If they fell out of
