..where once you've bought the releases online on vinyl (ideally even before they're shipped), you can DL it as Mp3? I'm fed up of buying vinyl then not having a decent digital copy as well and I'm fucked if I'm paying £6 for 2 tracks on 12" only to have a £2 surcharge to have them as Mp3.
Does such a place exist?

Licensing laws would probably prevent this. I know a few small labels have done direct order vinyl/MP3 deals but no biggies.

juno got mp3 as well as 12" (but not the same titles, unfortunately) :/ I don't buy that much vinyl so it's no big deal to rip them to my computer...

You can buy vinyl then rip it using Goldwave... but when you play it back the impurities of vinyl really show up. I downloaded the Brides of Funkenstein album once and it sounded fantastic (and yeah, I do own the original - or at least I did at the time)... but the guy ripped it using a Linn turntable and I had a Pro-Ject 2, that might explain it.

I heard of one (can't remember which) that got banned for doing it a few years ago, pending the court case. Can't remember what the outcome was, but I suspect as you say, it's not technically legal.

I do have a way of ripping my vinyl, but it's neither as easy or as good sound quality as ripping CDs. Also, I just don't have the time to record every record I have to mp3 (bearing in mind you need to play about with the .wav- removing clicks, trimming silence, splitting tracks, etc) and that you need to be present for the playing of the record (to cue/turn it over), rather than set it going and then go and do something else.
Sure, I'll do it on the odd record that I can't get on Slsk, that is vinyl only, but it'd take me days, if not weeks to do all my records that way.

Stylus? The one that came with the turntable. There's probably better ways of doing it than using Goldwave, because I'm sure playing the track on a Linn wouldn't filter all the impurities out.
