I could never do them as a kid, but now I see what all the
fuss is about.

The first one I've ever "seen".

It's like looking into a little box, the effect is quite
striking.

i've never been able to do this either; actually i think
that i just can't, since i already have problems to perceive
distances and other 3-d stuff in "real life" (for example,
when descending a slope i often can't perceive the degree of
the slope when i look at it)...

Right, this how I figured them out. You know when you cross
your eyes you can superimpose one thing on top of the
other?
Like if somebody was standing next to a tree, you could
cross your eyes until it looked like the person was standing
in front of the tree? Well, the dark bits with the white
arrows have to be placed on top of each other in your vision
this way.
But instead of crossing your eyes your relaxing them, so
your pupils are moving further apart rather than closer
together.

I having difficulty believing anyone could have a successful
wank over one of these, what with the low detail and
maintaining the eye positions whilst counteracting the
rocking movement.

I've got a book stuffed full of these. I used to really
enjoy doing them. Sometimes I would have to try NOT to see
the magic eye and just see the repeating pattern.
make your own here.

i like these yeah..seems just as easy to spot on screen as
it is on paper. for those that can't see it, imagine like
you're watching something float in a seethrough glass
container. i like shark the best out of these 3..probably
because of the bright colours.

and those are not people on crosses but a guy on a cross
with anohter guy poking him with a spear.

Yes, "Energy Flash" Simon Reynolds book about dance music is
good too. Also, check out his Blissblog, he's been moaning
that nothing's going on in music lately, he doesn't even
rate dubstep.

Yeah, I read his Blissblog it's allways a good read whether
you agree with him or not. I still haven't read 'Energy
Flash' yet even though I got it as a birthday present years
ago. Do you feel dubstep is going to do more for itself, I
mean something really interesting or is it just going to
mutate/split into sub divisions?

Hmmm...dunno, some of the Benga/Skream stuff is really
clubby without being cliched, I like that. I could see it
going in a few directions. I can't really be arsed following
it as a movement on the whole, though.

I think the next big thing will be R'n'Btronica.

My mate told me once that he started being a bit
short-sighted as soon as he bought a book with this kind of
3D pics. Perhaps we shouldn't watch them for too long.

it seems to be nearly impossible to decipher them as small
images, but fullscreen I can do just as well as the books. I
do get a creepy feeling that it's not very good for my eyes,
though.
