Here in Holland there's a really cool X-Box commercial on
television. It's about a woman giving birth to a son, she
shoots him out of her (you know) and then he soars through
the sky, aging faster and faster untill he dies, and lands
in his grave... I thought it was really cool, but lot's of
(older) people i know were upset about it... Have you seen
it? Think it's upsetting?

Havent seen that ad here :-( Sounds great!

Tonight was the first time I seen an XBox Gameplay footage
ad (They had some back a while ago but they were teasers).
It was for Dead or Alive 3. I couldn't heard it well but it
seemed like this couple on a couch and then the kettle
boiled. Then it showed footage of DoA3...

CRAZY!!!

advertising people in the world.. im surprised they sell
anything

What has this to do with the XBox? I don't understand. I
haven't seen it yet...

Yes - the advert is very good!

offline whitehead from Nicaragua on 2002-03-10 17:49 [#00119890]

the advert is about the fact that life is short (and they
mean the birth -> dying bit symbolical) so you have got to
play more... xbox...

(i know, sounds stupid, but hell, they got my attention)

Nintendo sell because the gameplay is frickin' BRILLIANT,
every new Zelda or Mario or Metroid game revolutionizes
everything.

Aw fuck. I need to buy a Gamecube, this is so frustrating. I
have to have that in addition to my PS2 to play all the
games I want. Fuck. Fuck fuck.

I totally I agree with you Ophecks.

I wish now was like the old days when games sold well
because they were great not because they had flashy ads.

(Not dissing flashy ads, just dissing crappy games selling
well because of flashy ads and great games selling poorly
because of little advertising).

Totally agreed. Great graphics should be the icing on the
cake to great gameplay, not the whole package just being
graphics.

I've been playing the original Metroid the last couple of
days, and the gameplay is just flawless... I wish more games
would go for sweet gameplay like this.

And Super Metroid is the ultimate... I've got a bad feeling
about the new Metroid Prime, I doubt it'll live up to the
SNES Metroid.

As good as the X-Box Advert is - I'm not going to buy one.
I'm happy with my PS2!

I still have my Metroid cart, but saldy my NES is not
working :-( Gotta get a another one soon...

I just hope stuff like Metroid will still be loved and seen
as a classic in the years to come. With all those kids
raised on PS2/XBoxes and GameCubes I hope retro classics
don't get forgotten...

The metroid for nintendo is insanely hard, i do remember a
code for it tho, i think in the password screen you type
"justin codey" and the rest the underline symbol and you get
to be samus without her suite on, tho time may have
distorted the actual code in my memory.

The snes Metroid was great, i actually really liked the
soundtrack alot for it and was thinking on doing a remix,
but the thing with the snes metroid was that it was too
easy, i could finish it in about 2 hours.

My cousin was watching me play Metroid, he just kept
commenting on how bad it looked. Forget the fact that the
gameplay is fantastic... he just didn't like the lack of
flashy graphics. I bet he's home playing Smash Brothers
Melee on that useless Cube right now.

JUSTINBAILEY

That's the code right there!

I have a DC and I'm happy playing Crazy Taxi for the rest of
my life (meaning, I'll stick to PC games).

X-box and PS2 are too complicated machines I like Game Cube
cause it plays games that it, if one wants to play DVD
movies buy a DVD player, want to hear CDs buy a Stereo any
of these machines will do a better job than the X-box and
PS2 and they dont scratch the CD neither like those
consoles.
