Is there any possibility of running any music production
programs on an old OS8 laptop Ive got? Somebody mentioned
Rebirth version 1 but I can't find any info about it or
anywhere to get it.

The laptop is a powerbook 540 about ten years old and it
still works well, there is an extremely small hard drive on
it which may be a problem, but I'm just asking out of
curiosity really. theres a couple of other old macs in the
attic including a mac plus that I will try to get going
again for old times sake

then again, this PowerBook 3400 is in SERIOUS need of a
reinstall...it's more than a little bit fucked

ummm you could try installing OS X on it? :-p

actually, doesn't BeOS run on the older PowerBooks?

rebirth on a PB 540 won't work (this computer was released
1994!).

I've got a PB 540c with 500 MB hd and 36 MB RAM, it works
perfectly for midi-sequencing (cubase 3, though you need a
serial midi-interface) and simple audio editing
(drum-samples). Try the soundeditor "sound effects" for cuts
& fx.

PB 540 series was the first portable computer ever with
ethernet and cd-quality sound (I/O) and it got SCSI as
well... (then again is costed $4840 back in 94' - I bought
mine seven years ago for $100)
