will be released on october 2nd (europe) / 3rd (usa). the artwork is planned to be a blank cover accompanied with stickers for you to paste on it where you want, and the album will be bundled with a dvd of low-budget videos for every song.
tracklisting: 1. elevator music 2. think i'm in love 3. cellphone's dead 4. strange apparition 5. soldier jane 6. nausea 7. new round 8. dark star 9. we dance alone 10. no complaints 11. 1000 bpm 12. motorcade 13. the information 14. movie theme 15. the horrible fanfare / landslide / exoskeleton
on beck.com, you can listen to two tracks (nausea and strange apparition); there is also a video available for another track (we dance alone).
apparently other tracks have leaked, and other videos too: • clips from this girl, 1000 bpm, no complaints, movie theme.
• some kind of trailer for a skateboarding documentary featuring nausea.

think i'm in love and soldier jane are amazing. the information didn't sound that good live. nausea is pretty cool. cellphone's dead is a bit odd. that's all i've heard. looking forward to this, but i wish he'd do some kooky antifolk again.

sorry was my favourite from the web tracks. day for night was also good. untitled song 2 may have been a bit poppy but was fun too. hopefully these songs'll show up on singles or something in good quality.
think i'm in love is an alright tune, cellphone dead too, strane apprition is alright but a bit too cliche atm : )
the informaton, the live track, didnt impress me much, but then again, i enjoy the studio version of nausea heaps compared to the more rockier live version.
um, motorcade, is a song that hasnt been mentioned here, and im not too fond of it. beck being a lil experimental with looped guitar and small beats. dunno if it worked all too well.
all in all, i've only heard bits and peices here and there, and while the album may not be a return to the beck that i love so much, it'll definetely be better than guero : )

« According to Beck, [Nigel] Godrich "said he wanted to do a hip-hop record" before they began work on the album. "And in a way it is, and in a way it isn't. It has hip-hop songs, and my previous work with him was Mutations and Sea Change, these sort of introspective records, and so this new one is sort of bringing those two worlds together. »
Strange Apparition is upbeat and poppy; Nausea is quite funky and in my opinion it rocks; We Dance Alone is danceable but gloomy hip-hop.
