Say I regularly walk around and get inspiration/ideas for
music and want to record multiple parts, but also want to be
abe to "mix" them to listen on the spot and figure out what
I want, or if I just want to scrap the idea. Maybe record up
to 10 minutes per track if needed, but also as short as a
second. Example, guitar idea, record melody, record other
part, record words, but be able to press play or something
and bring up the level of each track when the time is right.
Is there anything that could be carried around, like a
miniature 4 track studio piece?

yes, portable recorders are everywhere,
they are nothing new, chekc online, pawn shops

or you could be like V.Snares and put out an album every six
months :)

just put out the music you love, the rest will fallow

Currently, I love doing things on real acoustic instruments.

Andy and I are thinking about starting to do shows in the
Omaha/Coucil Bluffs/Lincoln/Papllion. I made a friend with a
lady, Jula, who can sing very well and she plays a little
piano, so we found our solution to a female vocalist. It's a
really soft voice too.

I saw Björk in TV once, she had the coolest thing. She
could record stuff, edit it, sample it and sequence it in
one little machine. So she was walking around recording
noises from nature and stuff like that. Very cool.

I know what you talk about, i get my best ideas when walking
around, or when i'm on my bike. Something just happens if
you let loose there. I mostly carry around my dictaphone,
and sing the melody line in there. Then i go home and listen
to the tape, with the idea still fresh, and try and make
something of it. I dont think i need more than that.

See, we had been trying to force ideas the past few months,
but I said "You know what. I can't do this Andy. Just let's
have a conversation for ONCE where we don't talk about
music." and I guess he was angry at me for that, but I just
stopped thinking about it for a while. Then last night I had
a HUGE creative burst. I think I wrote about 4 short songs
in one hour. Full guitar/multiple parts, some piano/synth
and vocals. But I tabbed it all out, but couldn't record it
like I wanted. That's why I ask about this device, what
could I get cheap.

Something like it exists, i'm sure. I'm happy that you are
making acoustic music, you really have talent for that.

At least, the best music i've heard from you has always been
the more acoustic. Can't wait to hear it!
