When you guys make music, do you just sequence your drums
or are you all making loops?

When I'm not tracking I like to make my loops in FL or with
my drum machines. I find it's harder to mix down a loop
becuase of the whole BASSDRUM SNAREDRUM combined into 1 wav
thing.

So say your mixing your loop, and your compressing it, you
(well me anyway) don't really want to bring up the same bass
levels in your snare that are in your bassdrum.

If your like me and are sometimes too lazy to go back and
export your loop ,track per track (which can be sort of a
pain in the ass if your doing this externally with a drum
machine that doesn't have an EXPORT TO WAV FILE :P Syncing a
snare track with the bass drum track ain't easy with out
some sort of marker at the start of the measure), then your
song is gonna suffer.

The best trick I have for this is too mark your loops with
regions, so when it gets down to the nitty gritty final mix
you can easily seperate the hits for mixing.

More dynamics make for better drum beats, with that said
UNINSTALL T-RACKS !!!!! :P

is this a question or information? or both?

anyway, I program drums all the way through the song.. i
sometimes copy/paste basic structures like a basic 4/4 and
then modify throughout.

I use almost never loops for drums, I want to use different
EQ and FX on single drumsounds - so sequencing is my method
of choice...

I despise loops. Completely pointless for what i want to do
at least. If you find a good loop, cut out the sounds
seperatetly IMO

Do everything in Soundforge, including my last album under
my "Burial" alias.
