ENYA

The lushest experience I ever had was sitting in the theater
waiting for Titanic to start. They were playing Shepherd
Moons... now that was lush.

strings/pads playing specific, pleasant chords w/decent
reverb (high frequency response, extensive decay? iono). and
other synth sounds that just sound pleasant and dreamy.
nice, stabby soft sounds with low decay.

the track analogue bubblebath for example

I think the track Analogue Bubblebath indeed did set the
benchmark for "lush". I also think B12's "Soundtrack of
Space" is "lush". Outside of these two instances I will not
allow the word lush to be used in this household, unless you
are talking about the band Lush which, to be fair, doesn't
happen that often.

For clarity I must mention that for most of the south of
england lush can just mean good in a very vague and
meaningless way

"lush" has something sexual to me, so has "bliss", i don't
wanna know what those words mean, to me they can lead to
ecstasy. maybe because it's got 3/4 of "lust" and the shhhh
in the end makes it so sensual :) bliss reminds me of
"glisser" which means "to slip". and it makes me think of
satin bedsheets. it's got something of a sensual fall, of
the sexual thought you have when falling asleep...

ok are we (americans) resorting to using words we dont
understand because aphex has famously used it.

Thats like me asking americans how and when best to drop a
"awesome" or "swell" in to a conversation.

oh dear

you might like to try out "brutal" as well.

good luck with your natural sounding conversations

definition ≠ examples.

on the other hand, i don't have a definition either... and i
don't think such a thing can be coldly defined.

recently I have been revisiting Track 14 and Blown by LFO
and loads of BoC stuff. That's what lush means to me.

lush.
