Folks...

Tax refund is on the way so I'll have some cash to waste...

I am very tempted to get a GP2X
Espically seing how good the NEO-GEO emulation runs....

GP2X Advert
NEO-GEO

Anyway its Linux based and fingers crossed later version of
the emulators get better. Some are a bit shitty at the
moment.

You can just plug the GP2X into a TV and play on the big
screen..

Their Site

Anyone tried one yet?

....then there is the PSP...........

ermm.. yeah.

Personally I'd go with the PSP because I don't have one and
everything you can do on the GP2X, you can do... without
one... but it's still undeniably awesome. If I had money to
burn I'd almost certainly get one.

oh yeah, if you're never going to take it outside your
house, get a psp instead.

Well I probably only wanna try out Metal Gear Ac!d and play
WipeOut Pure on the PSP...
I'm happy with the PS2 versions of all the Sony titles
anyway..

So I guess its down to the Emulators.

I also need a new portable music device. Portable video is a
bonus.

I think PSP uses those Sony Memory sticks.. vs. the SD Cards
of GP2x..
Which ones cheaper? SD cards I think. (ebay)

i have a psp.. none of the games i bought really kept my
attention for more than a couple days (but that's true of
just about every game i buy lately..)

anyway, if you're into writing your own games, the gp2x is
probably what you want.

I've used a PSP and I can safely say it sucks. Who really
needs a portable ps1 so you can re-buy your dvds on a
useless new format? Not to mention shitty battery life,
speakers and easily scratchable 'big' screen. Like surfing
the internet? Now you can spend hours typing in urls and
text slow as fuck! awesomesauce

I know fuckall about gp2x but I wouldn't want to spend $200
on a psp.

PSP is awesome, but you know what is defenitly better?

The Nintendo DS-Lite. Much better system, and Iam a sony guy
for sure.............

So many great games out for it already, so many more great
ones coming out soon, and its such a great system,
innovative and quite amazing.

i got a psp, never use it anymore, takes ages to type
anyhting on the browser so never gets used, only decent game
is wipeout pure (awesome) and gta, lumines is fun too.
homebrew is interesting but sony try to block it, cos they
make all their money on the software not hardware, so dont
want people doing their own software.
UMD discs are terrible and battery life is dire.
there seems to be no decent games for it now, there are
about 4/5 games worth getting. avoid.

Alot of these early versions of the emulators on the GP2x
make me nervous.

I say to myself "Is this gonna be running at full speed some
day or what?"

YouTube up the GP2x playing Atari Jaguar, the Amiga runs a
bit sluggish too.

But the Neo-Geo + Genesis was the big sell point for me.

Doesnt the PSP stretch the screen when running emulators?
Not keen on hunting down a 2nd hand PSP to get the right
Fireware version and buying Sony portable media.

Nintendo DS hmm.. not a too bad idea... Not as powerful as
PSP but looks like fun! And that new Castlevania nearly made
me jump the gun and buy one.

Fark why dont I just buy them all then huh?

Buy'em all for sure! hehehe....

I took a good look at the PSP but I personally made the
right choice for the DS Lite and I couldnt be happier with
it. Its really an awesome handheld.

Hey, I have a DS and a PSP and honestly I get far more use
out of the PSP! It's just far better suited for action and
racing titles- better graphics and the bigger screen also
help.

The PSP seems to cop a lot of flack, but from my experience
it has a comporable number of good games to the DS, and is
certainly not an unwise purchase
