I know this is a lame question. I am kinda new to this
style of music and I would like to find out more about it,
find more composers and such.
The only artist I know so far is Richard. I know that he did
various kinds of music. But can somebody please tell me how
you call this mix of electronic music, craziness, freshness,
...
Is it IDM? That's intelligent dance music, right?

please just drop a yes or no instead of harassing me. thank
you

If you like what he does it's probably a better idea just to
look around at his influences and the music he is associated
with, rather than ask the fuckwits that post on this site.

IDM is not a cool thing to say even though that's what it
is.

hello and welcome : )

yes, it is called IDM. but everyone (or almost) dislikes
this genre name. and the boundaries of "IDM" are quite broad
and unclear... you might hear "IDM", "braindance", or just
simply "electronic music".

some of the most popular IDM artists after Aphex Twin are
Autechre (really weird but often very good/interesting and
quite unique-sounding music - if you're interested in IDM,
you're bound to check them out someday), Squarepusher
(depends on the release, sometimes has jazzy influences,
often "drill'n'bass" style), Plaid (quite poppy but not in a
bad way, i like them very much), Boards of Canada
(boring em, soothing, calm with references
to childhood and satanism and stuff), Venetian Snares
(really irritating er, aggressive)... i'd
also recommend Bola (soothing, spacey and trippy), which is
not amongst the best-known but is great in my opinion and
FSOL (The Future Sound Of London), trippy/organic music that
i've seen classified as ambient sometimes. then there is
µ-ziq, which i don't know, and Luke Vibert, which is good i
think but i don't know him well, and some other
artists/bands i've forgot too. etc.

try "Smiling little cow" by Kettel for a start, the soft and
melancholic face of "IDM"

You forgot an important IDM super star, Mark Bell under this
famous (at least for us) alias, LFO.

Good post anyway uzim. Sokrates should really listen to him
:)

@ tolstoyed: electronix music? that's too general...what's
mensa? (in my language, mensa is the place where students
get their food...)
@ mappatazee: "fuckwits" doesn't sound like you are very
fond of the other poster's opinion...or am I wrong?
@ goDel: it's hard for me to follow your way of thinging.
that's not a bad thing, though....let me feel your way
please
@ thecurbcreeper: thank you
@ dog_belch: I'm not him, I have no idea what you are
talking about
@ r40f: thanks for that. well, what's the term to use to
address this kind of music?
@ qrter: what do you mean with "H"? by the way: I do not
want to have class...
@ uzim. damn, someone should build you a statue. thanks for
that one
@ _gvarek_: thank you
@ tridenti: well, you can't blame me forgetting about
anybody doing this kind of music since I am a newbie...i
WILL listen to uzim (thanks again)!

Well I think it's not best to ask for recommendations, but
discover for yourself. I first got into this by Come To
Daddy by RDJ, then spent the winter downloading and pirating
all of his tracks. By discovering his stuff (and other
artsits) on my own, it left me with lots of good feelings
that come back each time I listen to a certain song, from
when I first found out about it. I like nastolgia.

How do you know to say "I'm not him" if you don't know what
I am talking about? You DO know what I am talking about.
Fucking hell Richard, grow up mate, yeah it was funny
laughing @ the Internet 100 years ago, but now it's evolved
into being a stream of cool blog news and tech savvy
animations. You want to get with the times mate and do a
Dub-step Grime album, like pronto.
