I do give a fuck about it actually, and I'd have it in my hands now if I had the cash and a decent record store nearby. :) I've heard it's good. Should I pick up this or Anomie and Bonhomie first? They're the two I have left to get.

Get this. Anomie and Bonhomie is okay, but it's more like some middle aged guy trying to make a 1999 underground hip hop record.
White Bread, Black Beer is just a great collection of pop songs. It's my second favourite after Cupid.

oh wow.. excellent. I will, thanks. you've inadvertently turned me on to some great stuff already so I'm sure you're correct. :) I got Provision and Songs to Remember about three or four weeks ago.. Provision is fantastic, I think "All that we Are' is my favorite Scrit song altogether. Songs to Remember is okay but it's just a little too different and archaic.. still some gems though. It's very hard to not to like any song with the words 'I'm in love with Jacques Derrida' in it.. :)

What's your slsk name? This sounds appealing, but I'm all queued up and I'm too shy to ask the guy to do me a favor.

Scritti Politti is by far the best band to turn up on my radar (thanks to swears) in the past year.. I've been buying it compulsively. It's pretty saccharine at times though, better have a strong stomach! :)

I love their 80s stuff but never bothered to look into anything past that... I guess because old people are unappealing. But when swears speaks, you have to listen, or be left out in the cold.
(nothing can be ''too saccharine'' anyway)
BTW nevermind I got it going, I'm stealing with aplomb

agree
didn't realize you were already hip to the Scrit!
while we're on the subject of record recommendations, I took your advice when I was in London two weeks ago and bought Tuxedomoon's 'Ghost Sonata'.. not what I was expecting, but really good! Took me a little while to wrap my head around it.

I don't think I would have recommended Ghost Sonata, I'm more a fan of their earlier, more abstract stuff... I bet I told you to get Half Mute. I do that all the time. But GS is awesome too, I love ''Les Odalisques''. Glad you like it.

well ive been listening to scritti politti now for 2 months solid. 'cupid and psyche' defines the winter just passed. its gotten to the point where i plan to go out and buy 'white bread, black beer' tomorrow, and i even like half of 'anomie and bonhomie' :) green gartside is my favourite artist in 2006.

give "the ghost sonata" some time. it's kind of "music to play in the dark" ;]

wow! I'm glad I just happened to stumble back into this topic.
I will give Ghost Sonata another spin.. I listened to it several times when I first got it and liked it but sort of shelved it after that. I'll try playing it in complete darkness as per your suggestion. Wasn't there originally a performance aspect to it, like a play? That probably would have been really cool to see when it first came out.
