just finished playing the PC demo - hey, it's a new FPS
that actually surprised me! and in gameplay!

if you haven't yet, first download and play the demo, before
reading on. it's more fun the less you know beforehand.

**SPOIL0RzZz!!!LOL!!n00bz!!pWN3d***

I thought the "you can walk on walls and ceilings" mechanic
sounded a bit okay beforehand, but I didn't think it would
be quite as good as it was in the game. better yet are all
the strange warping portals, and the tricks that are played
with them - the world within the world, seeing yourself
looking through a portal, etc.

also, the whole you died BUT OHNO YOU DIDN'T you just get
more powerful - classic and surprising. nice.

and when you get killed in the game you get a nice little
battle with evil dead spirits in the spiritworld and are
allowed to return - that's nice, no need for endless
quickloading. it kind of keeps you in the action more.

I'm not a big fan of the design, so far. I just don't like
the look of the Doom 3 engine, I guess - it makes every
surface look like shiny plastic (yes, even when I see it run
on better graphics cards than mine..). and the whole look of
the aliens and the ship is ofcourse clichéd to hell and
back, although the barfing orifices were a nice touch.

it's a beautiful game, despite its engine, and it's even
quite fun to play. reminds me of the BUILD games.

Everytime I see the previews for this in Computer Games
magazines, I just turn the page, the art-style instantly
makes me not want to give it the time of day. But because
qrter likes it, I'll give the demo a shot, it sounds like
the gameplay could be ''a gas''. Is it disorienting?

not really

the most off-putting part of the game was the intro where
the main character looks himself in the mirror

plot sounds awful fom the official site and the whole dying
and battling dead spirits sounds exactly like soul reaver to
me. However i have not played it so what do i know!

it's not disorienting, I think because you as a player
initiate most of the changes in direction, or at least
that's the case in the demo. oh it's just.. fun.

this might also have a semi-decent story - it'll still be a
Hollywood blockbuster fucky plot, but if it'll be quite
refreshing if it has A Plot at least.

the game completely head fucked my stomach with all the
portals and gravity fuckery, but they were a nice twist in
an fps game. I enjoyed the long demo, its well worth a
download especially only at 400mb. Id say its going to be
better than quake 4 and certainly doom 3. The introductory
sequences were amazing.

there was this game called the taskmaker or something for
mac a ways back, it was an above view puzzle/action game
sort of like the adventures of lolo. but when you died you
went to hell and the walls were made of flames and you had
to get to the exit with out getting caught by the demons

just thought i'd mention it.

i'm the worst kind of person

I'm pretty happy with the gameplay in the demo. It's really
the strangest FPS game ever, but getting used to the world
isn't really hard. What bothers me is the general gimmicky
feel of the game and Tommy

It's good and innovative in places but I won't be buying.
