Someone called me from something called The White, a company that distributes promotional cd's and vinyl to record companies, dj's, film companies and so on. They want to release one of my tracks on a compilation that will be pressed on 1000 cd's and 500 vinyl copies and then they will distribute it to all the right people. The catch: I have to pay 500£ for this. First I thought, wow, someone wants to release my music! Then, when the 500£ fee was mentioned I thought; is this a skam? Does anyone here know anything about or have any experience with The White? |

oh man, that sounds like a lot of money..if this the white was something worthy i'd do it probably.. have you tried sending your stuff to labels before? |

hmmm interesting. find out who they are. google doesnt seem to be coming up with much. even if they seem legit be wary. distribution companys can just take your money and then never play your music to anyone. |

I have never tried to send my music to any labels or anything but I have published a few tracks on a free website and The White representative said that some of their associates had come across this track, liked it and then suggested it as part of an upcomming compilation. They e-mailed me a url: The track in question is 7 years old so it's not really part of any current project I'm working on....which is none at the moment (I'm buzzy having kids)... 500£ IS a LOT of doe!!!! Hmmmmm, suspicious... |

Yepp, they are launching some massive norwegian offensive it seems. A different person from "The White" called me and asked for "a member of True Stories", the other project I have published on Urørt (A free norwegian website for unknown, unsigned bands). Thank you guys for helping me clear this up! |

i got contacted by someone asking to release my music. he then asked for some donation money to help support the release. i said no, and that i was skint anway (true) and since heard nothing back. anyone who realises your potential and wants to make money off of it the honest way won't ask you for cash, they will just exploit your talent and take a cut of your releases! |
