A Sinar Norma

First photo

It's like regular photography, with a hundred more things to
do wrong.

Wow, very nice result! How much did you pay for it?

5200 Swedish crowns (SEK). It came with two lenses, a 150mm
and a 90mm, both like new. I also got 4 film holders for
4x5" sheet film and a bag bellows. 3 of the film holders
look like they've never been used. I haven't started with
the sheet film yet, I'm using 120 roll film with roll film
holder.

One of your coolest cameras by far.

I shot some 6x6 with the Sinar today. It's like having a
Hasselblad with full movements.

He shot the one of his new camera with a different camera.
No mirrors I don't think. Perhaps I'm wrong.

Cool nice to see you finally found someone who’s not
afraid to post internationally. This is my 5X7 Linhof
Technika III. It's a bit of a dilemma using it though, I
can’t shoot anything with movement because it's got a bum
shutter (highest 1/90) and Im restricted to Kodak 64 and 64T
because no one else makes colour 5X7 film these days. But
there are a few higher asa b/w films to choose from.

It looks gorgeous! Maybe you can find a 4x5 reducing back
for it? Then you can shoot 120-film with a roll film holder.

Any photos up, taken with it?

Aquagak, I hope you keep using that. The shutter is only a
small part of it. Ebay is a goldmine for LF-optics and
shutters.

I almost bought a Tech 3 last summer, but the seller
couldn't guarantee the bellows was ok. I didn't want to
start out by looking for pinholes.

Yeah lately I've been looking out for a new lens and a roll
back. Still learning but here is the first shot
I’ve ever took with it. Pity there was a horrible light
leak in the double dark I used. A little trick I read on the
net which you probably already know is to use a loupe on the
ground glass to get a more precise focus.

offline Paco from Gothenburg (Sweden) on 2006-06-10 14:59 [#01917358]
Points: 2659 Status: Lurker | Followup to aquagak: #01917326

The detail is pretty impressive. Yeah, a loupe is helpful. I
just use a small 3x pocket-magnifier.

I made a pinhole lensboard out of cardboard today. I took a
piece of a beer can and made the pinhole on that. I'll try
that out tomorrow. Looks like the shots will be super wide
on 4x5". The front and rear standards are completely pressed
together and still the groundglass is fully covered by the
image. The focal length is less than 5cm, I guess.

Looks like the photos could have very nice character. I've
been trying to find a camera called the Great Wall DF. It's
a crappy Chinese box camera, but the quality is
amazing.

More Great Wall DF goodness in in the old archive over at Making
Happy.

I'm heading out now to take some pinholes with the Norma.

I did get some photos taken. I shot directly on paper and
then scanned and inverted them in photoshop.

Here are the two I posted:
Swings
Winds

The pinhole could be smaller and it's far from a perfect
round shape. I just cut out a cardboard and made the hole on
a piece of tin from a beer can.

damn there are some nice pics here (your portfolio or

majority are awesome!

Thanks, it's a blog and it gets updated fairly often. I
updated it every day for two years, so there's been some ups
and downs in quality, and I never know what people will
like.

I built a closet dark room, so now I update whenever I have
time. Processing film and doing prints takes alot more time
than scanning lab-processed film. Soon I'll start doing
slide cross-processing at home too. Just need to find a good
kit of C-41 chemicals.

Some 4x5in scans up now. My old scanner didn't take negs
this large, so I got a new, better one.

yksi
kaksi
kolme
neljä

The portraits have an exposure time of about a second, so
there's some subject movement on the kids..
