I bet you in the next couple years we're gonna see an ironic revival of shitty, 1992-style chunky 3D graphics You know, it'll be all about Lawnmower Man, The Chart Show intro, virtual reality, early nineties TV documentaries about William Gibson, Wolfenstein 3D, the information superhighway, ad nauseum... This will all be part of a wider early nineties revival dredging up things like shoegazing, Sega Megadrive, Gulf War I:The Walkover and of course rave, which is gonna explode everywhere like electroclash did a couple of years back. |

i remember this virtual reality thing they had at the city science center back then. it was almost the complete opposite of reality. you stood still in one place and used the hat on a joystick to move, and you didn't even really turn your head to look around either, if i remember right. the closest thing i've seen to virtual reality was the motion-sensing version of virtua fighter that they had at the arcade downtown. and that didn't work well either. i think they went for the whole VR thing way too soon back then. it might actually be semi-plausible now with the implementation of bluetooth and everything. |
