i know we aLL Love music/Live dj sets/mixed cds... and i've been trying to find a decent mp3 encoder for my cds that faLL on these categories... e.g. i rip mi "dead cities" by fsoL, store it in my hard drive, and if i try to burn a copy for someone i get a ~0.032 second seconds gap between each track...
i once downLoaded a cd that stated to be a "proper reLease" with no gaps...
aLL i'm wondering is: where can i find a gapLess mp3 encoder?
i've tried rarewares.org and the bLade encoder, but no success...
pLease heLp... :)

if your copying CD's cdr-win is rad for that, using disk images etc.. (clearly i havn't copied a CD since '99) i don't know about encoding but you can use cool edit to remove the silence really easy.
hey big, whats lame?

as it writes the gappless information into the mp3 files also i heard foobar would play regular mp3s gapless, but who'd want to use that over winamp?

if you've got gaps at the start or end of mp3s you want to look at your ripper. that's most likely where the empty space exists. tag information takes up some of the mp3 file and due to the flexible nature of the id3 tag format it may cause a problem to players that aren't written too well, or encoding apps that don't write tag frames properly.
so the problem may be one, or a combination of, the ripper (which takes the audio from the cd and writes it to your hard disk), encoding app (which can write tag information), codec (ie, LAME, Blade, etc, which can write tag info too), or player app (which can misinterpret tag frames or just be too slow to play back some or all mp3 files)
if this makes no sense it's cos i've got a hideous cold and am not thinking as clearly as i might.

you might also burn your audio cds at too high speed. if that's not the problem - then maybe try to test your cd-writer-rom.
i use dbpoweramp - though it's not the best ripper, it's really good.
