I'm looking for minor, sorrowfull, melancholic-ish,
dark-sounding, sad styled classical music, stricly violins
or cello, by a quartet or less of players. Something kind of
like the backing tracks used in Venetian Snares' Ketsarku
Mozgalom.

Can anyone tell me some stuff?

Girls trying to mix classical and rock. Ha! They look very
serious about it too.

The just off top of my head...
Try Beethoven's later quartets like Opus 131. There are some
quartet renditions of the Art of Fugue or there's Bach's
Chaccone (sp?) which is for solo violin...
