An acoustic track (Not SPAM)

This is a short, opening track for a potential folk-ish CD
I may do titled "From The Meadows To The Mudholes"

I plan to get dear, old Andy Cubrich to sing the vocal line
in a soft lullabye-like voice.
The guitar will be gently plucked, and I'll record a
melodica or harmonica solo over the interlude at the end.

I've got a basic layout of it recorded, but the quality and
my voice isn't that great, but I will update you when we've
got something.

"Awake and Smiling"

[ADAE - ADEA] (Plucked with varying intensity)

[A D ]

We were elated, the sky was fair,

[A E ]

On that mid-summer day.

[A D ]

The birds agreed, all worries freed,

[E A ]

For he was here to stay.

[A D ]

Thw world stood still, and smiled,

[A E ]

Upon that sunny morn'.

[A D ]

Flights delayed, a grand parade,

[E A ]

The day our boy was born.

(Interlude in ADAE-ADEA)

End

I'd like to hear it when its done. Folk music is fun.
Folk, Folk, Folk, Folk, Folk, Folk, Folk, Folk, Folk.

most of it is just quiet acoustic songs can spam you a
REALLY embarrasing unfinished one if you are intersted ( I
am waiting on the harmonies and organ)

Umm here.

My first attempt at singing. My voice doesn't sound god to
my own ears. :(

I thought I might abandon this, then I remembered
Taffmonster said he might want to hear a "really
embarrasing" unfinished one.

So here.

Don't laugh.

Well, ok. Laugh.

i'm not going to laugh at you. that would be a very mean
thing to do.

this would be great if you hadn't used those horribly cheesy
chords. try learning some better chords and making a new
song.

your singing isn't bad at all. the song is okay, not great,
but this is hardly 'really embarrasing'.

right, it is probably the single most cliche,
i-just-wrote-my-first-folk-song chord progression you could
possibly have on the guitar.

well, it does sound like Generic Folk Song #2, yes. didn't
want to say that, but now you have made me do it, Arf.

it's not easy to start out writing songs, so i know what mr.
jams is going through here... you just have to try a little
harder than the most obvious chord progression there is in
blues-based music.

Yes. I'm practicing every day with finger plucking and
moving certain fingers in chords and different times during
the measures. It's hard, but I'm trying to learn.

great - keep at it. you don't have to necessarily learn
anything complicated to write good music. barre chords
would be a great thing to know. so many of the best rock
songs just have three barre chords... it's often far more
important to know how to create good music than to know how
to play it.

The main part I'm concerened about with is my voice. I'm not
used to hearing it and I wanted to start working on solo
stuff with my own vocals instead of trying to explain to
someone else what I want.

your voice isn't bad, although it's kind of hard to hear on
that recording. might be that your voice is suited to such a
lo-fi recording, ofcourse.

It's not low-fi on purpose. Just a really bad recording. :)

the recording is the best part of this track by far, though.

it.

Taffmonster. I know you asked for that "embarassing"sample.
It's up a few posts. I thought I'd bump this since you are
on now. If you don't care, or for some other reason, than I
am sorry I bumped this.
