"I bought a portable CD player for $45 that can read mp3
discs and display ID3 tags, and so far it's filling in
nicely. This CD player works well but has one glitch: Now
and again something goes wrong with either the tracking or
the skip control and it keeps repeating the same 15-second
section of a song over and over. This has happened three or
four times while I was jogging and, combined with the
low-level alpha-wave state my brain retreats to during
physical activity, has led to some interesting listening
experiences.

I often listen to records for the first time while
exercising, so if a loop cuts itself in an appropriate place
I don't always recognize that it's skipping. After hearing
the same couple of bars repeated for minutes, my brain
slowly begins to process that something is wrong."

Ok now I can understand why their reviews suck that much...

Only cool tidbit I found out on Pitchfork was that BoC are
brothers.

I don't normall like pitchfork/agree with them, but there
are a lot of salient points in that article. Thanks for
posting it.

that's true. For instance, a friend of mine told me
that they had a girlfriend who liked aphex twin and I began
wondering who she was on xltronic.com

Whenever I hear a plucked acoustic guitar phrase on an
abstract electronic record-- which happens a lot these
days-- somewhere in the back of my mind a voice is pleading,
"Please, don't repeat that exact same bit again in the next
bar." More often then not, the piece does, in fact, repeat
the same bit again. And again. And again.

I know that voice, I know it well.
