The first two albums are loveliness, but they seem to travel
progressively further up their collective arse with each
release. Sadface.

I haven't heard a great amount of them myself ,only a few

just quickly(so i dont open a useless thread)Does anyone
know another, reasonable to use in conversation(so not
latin)name for flies...Like..the insect?I really think
''fly'' is a stupid and ridiculous name for them..It's
botherd me for quite some time now...

I know that is so off topic it's untrue..but..i really want
another word to use!

cheeers

hahah what is so mad about that...it is quite obvious that
they fly...but maybe it's not who they are?..i mean..It's
what they do and all...But i wonder what they
acctually are doing..they dont just fly ..they must do other
things..Therefore they need a name...

its like orange...Is it called orange after the colour?or
did the colour come first do you think?because if it's named
after the colour...
it bloody well shouldn't be

Its just lazy

plainn lazy!

sorry about the rant!
How did you like the track?

hehe

I decided to dl the whole album, and it's still not
finished. Will give it a listen later tonight. In norwegian
"Fly means "Airplane". That's lazy too I guess

You could call it a "house fly," which isn't quite as weird,
maybe, or how about a "buzzy-buzz"?

This fly right here--it has a thorax!!!

mm belb always thought a silver mt zion had the shadow of
godspeed of their early recordings.. they just didn't excite
me and i found the first two albums kind of draining.. but
the last 2 albums with vocals really puts a new spin on them
- saw them at the bier keller in manc in dec 2004 and they
blew me away - stood on the tables watching them, was ace

really need to check more constellation stuff.

I apreciate the effort^_^
but...
That's not much better :P

...everything's got a lame name.So obvious..and..crude.

i should make my own language..Id never remember it
though..and it'd be sad of me too.

Aye I liked the first two albums immensely, back in the day.
Haven't got them anymore though. I got the third one and was
very very disapointed, so haven't got the latest one either
for that reason. Its a shame, Godspeed went the same way
aswell.

A Silver Mt. Zion is a breakoff band of one of the members
of Godspeed You Black Emperor. Their styles are sometimes
similar, but Godspeed has a much more grand style than A
Silver Mt. Zion does. I think it was supposed to be a
smaller venture, as Godspeed is pretty huge (though ASMZ
kept adding people until theu were almost as big as
Godspeed).

I liked "Yanqui UXO" (also the album art) the most, but try
downloading "Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven"
aswell. I could never really decide whether I liked them or
not, but they're a lot more... Bigger, I guess, and a lot
less whiny than A Silver Mt. Zion. No lyrics. Just lots of
nice instrumentation.

I'd get the cd though, if I were you, the artwork and
packaging is great, and its a double cd, so a nice thing to
have... get it!!! See what you think first though obv.

I think "Born Into Trouble..." is ASMZ's masterpiece. The
latter campfire crap doesnt do anything for me.

DO MAKE SAY THINK. Seriously. & Yet & Yet & Yet is a
fucking gem.

i reckon the best place to begin with godspeed is the slow
riot for new zero kanada EP... moya+BBF3+headphones+walking
around a city=heaven...

almost as good as walking around to the 24 soundtrack album
and pretending i am jack bauer, hiding behind cars, and just
generally being cool

i never listened to silver mt zion for years simply because
people said they sounded like GYBE, how wrong was that. They
are by far better than GYBE, prolly one of my favourite
bands.

they're on tour in europe right now
dates

i'll see them in london 6/6/6 ... anyone else going?

this band is one of my favourites.. i really like how they
all sing and play and so on...

some very good bootlegs available from archive.org too (also
gy!be):
June 16th, 2005, Montreal

thee silver mountain elegies play war radio (part of silver
mt zion + hanged up = whoa):
October 17th, 2005, Paris

also there was talk that they would release a studio
recording of this "war radio" soon (tour cd?), i hope it
happens, these songs are so very good.
