Saw it yesterday and im thinking it s the best game to film
conversion yet. it is a good film, not amazingly fantastic
but still a fun watch. to anyone who doesnt know much about
the game im sure its quite bizarre. it was scary in parts.
Acting was ok. better then most. gore was brilliant. tad
strange watching a film with game music. but of course
luckily no numetal fight scenes.

babies nurses and cool dude with big paper hat on. all
awsome.

it back in the end lol.

on metacritic right now it gets a 27/100 (yikes) from
movie critics and a 8.7/10 from user critics...

I just saw it today. It did justice to the game and I loved
it, there were a few things I feel should have been
different. But I won't go into that because we dont have a
spoiler feature ...yet.

my friend told me it was great. pyramid head rips off
someone's skin. it will win the oscar for sure, as this
symbolic act will likely be interpreted as the shroud being
ripped off the body of the iraq war, where we see the
bleeding innocence beneath. it is truly moving.

and yes, it looks extremely good. and i am a fan of the
games.

the zeitgeist unease surrounding religious fundamentalism."

say what now?

I've read a few reviews of it, seems like the people that
have played the game really like it, and the people that
don't play or ''get'' videogames, don't. Guess that's good
news. Luckily I've played all the Silent Hill games multiple
times and understand the lore and mythos and all that, I'll
''get it'' and I'm looking forward to it. Actually I'm
downloading a cam version right now but I'm thinking I
should probably just not even bother, since that won't do
the visuals justice.

How was Pyramid Head?

I haven't played the series on my Playstation yet, it would
be better if I don't watch it? I mean, would I get bored of
it?

All signs point to ''play the muhfuggin' games first or you
won't get it''. Plus you should play the games anyway
because they're awesome.

It's probably like for Resident Evil.

People who played the games, like myself, appreciate the
movies more than people who didn't.

Though, I also heard that someone didn't like the movies at
all. Well, Different tastes.

Yeah I should definitely buy some of them. Maybe I should
start with the second or the third episode, once Drunken
Mastah told me so.

HAHAHAHHAA, you liked Resident Evil? I thought that the
hatred (justified) among the fans of the game was especially
strong. It's not a case of different tastes, it's a case of
taste and lack thereof.

offline Ophecks from Nova Scotia (Canada) on 2006-04-23 10:43 [#01885461]

Resident Evil was really really bad, not faithful to the
games at all.

I can see why people unfamiliar with the Silent Hill games
would not like the movie. If it IS faithful (unlike Resident
Evil and say, uh, Super Mario Bros.), then it must be a
mindfuck and I can't imagine them being able to compress all
the info and lore from the series into 2 hours. Roger Ebert
would be out of his element for sure.

Tridenti- Promise me you will play at least Silent Hill 1
and Silent Hill 2. Promise me.

If I like the movie I'm undoubtedly going to be moved to
play at least the first 3 games again.

offline tridenti from Milano (Italy) on 2006-04-23 10:51 [#01885465]

Yeah indeed you're right. Maybe Resident Evil Apocalypse had
something of Resident Evil 3 on Ps1, but it wasn't still
faithful to the games. I just liked them like normal
"horror" movies.

I think that a game totally inspired to Resident Evil 4
would be tha blast, it would definitely rule the world.

Ophie: Don't worry, I already planned to ask to some mates
of mine, which should have the games, to lend me at least
the first episode.

I saw it yesterday.. it was fucking awesome (as a silent
hill movie)! They kept true to the no sudden bursts of loud
sound continuous suspense feeling of the game.. the music,
as it was the original, was great and contributed to the
feel of the movie.

one of the best scenes is when she's running from the [...]
in the school right after having just barely seen them; you
get the feeling that you'd do exactly the same as her.. jump
at the smallest sight and run like hell.. then suddenly
while you're running you find out you don't know shit about
the place you're in, so every door has you thinking "oh damn
damn damn what if it's locked?!" and you also have this
feeling that they're right behind you all the time, even if
they may not even have seen you in the first place.

the only thing I'd have done differently is that I wouldn't
have shown the face of the nurse towards the end of the
scene where she's crying... I'd just have left it at that.

When it comes to horror-movies I'm easy to satisfy. This
movie however was a piece of crap. The first 20 mins was
promising, but the rest was like listening to this track
over and over again for two hours.

well, doom3 doesn't actually fall under the category of
silly. People looking for silly usually steer clear of games
featuring graphic violence, nightmarish lighting and
hellacious monsters. :D
