Otherwise known as IDM or Intelligent Dance Music, which means that the usual audience is beard stroking rather than booty shaking. (if you don't have one, stroking someone else's beard is acceptable).
ahah, who wrote this?!

It's all on the surface and very wrong. Whoever wrote that isn't into music. Even though I couldn't give a shit about the history of music, The Wire would have alot to say about those inaccurate popularist name drops.

yeah, it's a bit superficial, but those seem to be the names most commonly connected to those genres mentioned...even in wire i would say :) does it bother you because only the big names are mentioned (not necessarily the one that represent it the best)?

i think it was more fun then correct. but it probably attracts more nerdy kind of listeners. often people that is not and don't want to be a part of the "dance scene". but still, this is most often not the case.

For me it's the falsehood. If I was my kids searching for music that mattered and those names were produced as fact I'd be pretty annoyed. All of those people were the 'pop' of those movements. Important nonetheless but to be credited as instigators is bollocks. Hopefully if anyone is really bothered they'll dig a little deeper.

oh yeah, definitelly. i think though, if someone will know about those genres, im sure they would go deeper into things..which makes that look odd now when i think about it..who was it intened for? :)

exactly, it's a wikipedia style quote thing. Copying bits from there is going to be the death of educated listening. Honestly, I really don't want to read about music. With the interweb I'll find itsoon enough.

weird how musiscians never really care about genres but listeners do (musicians are occasionally listeners.. like when they listen, and they immediately gain the listeners special feature).
