obviously don't have many fav artists in common, as it
seems this mb lately only gets alive when a release of 4 or
5 major artists comes out..threads about it (especially when
it's good) keep emergining constantly and discussion gets
lively..and it'd be nice if someone took over that nacho and
woofer competitions about fav musicians..bit silly, but
makes the mb look more friendly somehow..yes

well, you're right that we don't all enjoy the same things,
but I'd say that's a good thing.. of course, it's a bit
annoying when you want to discuss something and you make a
thread and the only replies are two people saying "yes it is
awesome" and then one who says "I don't like it."

those best musician competitions were good, but I think VP
had a better idea.. the one where someone links something
and everyone listens and then discuss.. however, this means
that people would actually have to listen to new stuff every
once in a while, but certain people don't seem to be willing
to do this...

I got that much. The competition bit is what I'm lost on.

And the diversity of the music taste here is inherent, I
don't see the point in thinking about it as something that
needs to be fixed

linking musics and then discussing after listening or
something..?

it would mean just about anything! you could get mb members,
you could get known artists, you could get swedish folk
music, whatever! you'd get something NEW, something to
discuss, and that's all that matters, you conformist you!
you're always complaining about people not posting music
related things, but I'd say you're just as much to blame for
it by being closed minded as people posting silly posts!

well, if you look at what you're doing, it isn't choosing
this over that, it is simply excluding all music that isn't
"signed"; you're not even considering the option of
listening to the unsigned stuff, and that's exclusion, not
choice. thus you are closed minded.

That's not really how it works. I have like 100 bands and
several 100 albums I'm gonna check out, because I believe I
will like them. Not everyone sits in front of the computer
24/7, and have the time to listen to everything thats posted
here. This week, I only have the possibility to download
music one time, and then I probably will download some of
the albums I've been meaning to hear for a long time. I'm
not saying I never will listen to music posted here, but
its' all about the priority

it only takes like 6 minutes of your time to listen to most
spams (that is, if people aren't spamming mp3 eps or
whatever), which would be a good way to pass the time while
you're downloading the other stuff... you don't have to sit
in front of your computer 24/7 to listen to spams.. I don't,
and I listen to lots of the stuff posted here.. in general,
you won't spend more than 15 mintues every day (and that's
like on a really really really busy spam day)
listening to stuff.

oh, btw.. can I get that whole duplex thing from you? I
tried ordering, but apollon can't get the vinyl, and I want
to know if it really is good before I possibly order from
boomkat...

I don't think its narrow-minded to not listen to much spam
music here, lets face it, the probability of it being good
is a lot lower.

sometimes, narrow minded is good, as it can keep you from
harm, but no harm will come to you if you spend six minutes
with a song.

i think i know what you mean. there's no way of getting
around the fact that there are so many releases these days
that it's almost impossible for people (even people who have
a shared interest in electronic music) to hear and discuss
the same releases. especially now that people are flooded
with digital copies of music.

i listen to a lot of music, i have very eclectic tastes, and
a large and eclectic library. but nine times out of ten
when a release comes up for discussion i've never heard it.
and many times when i make a thread about a particular album
or artist, very few people have heard it.

our embarrassment of riches has come between us...

i think the probability that spam here will be good is
probably better than a random track picked from zebox.

i think your chances of hearing something good here are
better than a random track picked from the selection of any
music store.

by "good" i mean music that plaidzebra likes.

yeah, that's definitelly a problem..but it still seems
there's a huge gap between ae afx pusher boc and everything
else..by saying that i think threads about those particular
big releases also attract many people who otherwise post a
bit less..

problem for you?

I listen to spams sometimes, but my computer is getting old

I had one of those lightning fast PCs that you could click a
linked mp3 and windows media popped up immediately and
started streaming the track, then I'd click em all.
