quite a few of us here produce music or at least record.
please post your online resources, such as tips for eqing,
compression, etc. i am in learning mode right now and i'm
collecting as much information as i can to learn without
having to pay for schooling.

here's a few things i've been studying:

basic mixing

eqing

dynamics

any and all relevant replies are much appreciated. thanks!

about

mastering

Good tips if you're going to have the pros work on your
stuff.

The most important thing, I think, is to use data CDs
instead of handing in an audio CD for mastering - the data
CD format has error correction and can be a bit-for-bit
perfect copy, whereas an audio CD format doesn't have error
correction, which will almost certainly cause jitter errors
when it's written and when it's read.

Also, never transfer digital audio from the digital out on
your sound card. That can also cause jitter / clock errors.
Burn a data CD or use a lan connection or USB drive.

i recommend you go to your local bookstore and read the
magazine form.

do you mean this only when getting something prepared for
mastering somewhere else? 'cause I've been thinking of
getting a coax for the digital out on my soundcard to
transfer the sound better to the amp-- this will just be for
listening and monitoring when I'm making the music, though,
not for transferring anything to an external recorder...

myself and am including just about everything i am finding.

Sanguine's posts are really helpful. i like the way he/she
puts everything, very easy to understand.
