why so much rubbish?

I've been browsing through all the latest releases on
Bleep, and I'm amazed by how terrifyingly dull most of the
music sounds.

I listen to a lot of unsigned bands and artists, and many of
them put this stuff to shame. I know posts like this can
encourage a response of, "well, do it better yerself then!",
but I think what the person who's holding an opinion can do
is irrelevant. The point is, I've never heard such a load of
dross. And it's depressing. yes.

ALL music's wank, let's be fair.

CS2x, what do you want music to sound like? Not trying to
pick a fight; just asking.

I'm quite easy to please, and I like a lot of stuff that's
naff (in terms of being overly bombastic and cheesy) as well
as all the bands/artists people tend to like here.

However, I just find all of that material to be sorely
lacking in any spark or imagination. I like a bit of
livelyness, a bit of quirkyness, perhaps a nice dose of
atmosphere and emotion, too. I don't mind how minimal or
repeitive it is, either, as long as it DOES something for
me. But these new releases just sound so bland.

how's about diversifying and not just searching for
enjoyment in new bleep-bloop-dumm-tschhh releases.

i'm not saying you don't listen to other musics. i'm just
saying that you bemoaning the new releases on bleep is
evidence of an over-dependence on bleep and warp and that
sort of music.

You may have a good point there, actually. Perhaps I have
been too half-hearted with my non-electronic musical
interests (even if I often listen to classical/folk
stuff...)

But you know, when stuff in this electronic genre is done
RIGHT....it's so satisfying and I wish it occured more these
days.

80s/early 90s. there must be some drugs somewhere that can
help

I know there's good stuff comming out and that there are
other areas to explore. It was just an angry reaction
against all the material I was hearing on Bleep; every
single release was consistently boring.

I'm well into all the 8-bit stuff at the moment. it's not as
po-faced as the more "intelligent" electronica.

these days you need to do some searching to find good music,
most of it is just made for the money and not for the art

go on soulseek and download random shit you've never heard
of. i do that every so often and sometimes find future
favorites.
