its all good so i'd begin at the start and listen to their sound evolve - so garlands (even though its not particularly representative of their style)

try "milk and kisses" first, then go to "four calendar cafe" - the best album by CT (not only for a dinner with your gf or bf but also great for a breakfast). try This Mortal Coil "It'll end in tears" - very moody music ("Song to the Siren" contains beautiful vocalize by Liz Fraser).

How do you find this particular release? Because I read the info on the xlt previous thread and sounded like an excellent item to get hold to. Plus, I dont have much of those singles. I own most of their early cds, including the 10-cd singles box-set, wich IMO is great, BBC Sessions and now thinking on investing on this one :) Thnx 4 your opinion

i don't have all their albums (only two actually!) but i still ordered lullabies to violaine...
on a rush somewhat, because it got good reviews; and also because it's apparently pretty limited (500 copies in france)... so i'd have difficuly getting it later... (i think the probability of receiving a "sorry, this item wasn't available anymore after all" email from amazon is pretty likely by the way.)

I suppose my favorite is 'Heaven or las Vegas' but i also love 'Blue Bell Knoll' , 'Victorialand' , 'Treasure' ,
'Garlands' is great, almost like joy division or something.
'Sunkist and Snowblind' is beautiful too.
shit, really it's all pretty good. and there is a fucking lot of it.
Oh, don't let me forget to plug 'Twinlights' it's an accoustic EP and really, it's one of the ones i listen to the most.

you shouldn't play cocteau twins with your boyfriend. it's better to play skinny puppy. or hide and seek.

i saw them live in Seattle like almost 10 years ago and i almost wept. incidentally, seefeel was the opener (and Spain who kinda sucked) and he did a few songs together with them.

they are fantastic. "garlands", "treasure" and "head over heals" are all superb. you can't even compare them, they are different and special in their own little ways. however I lean more towards "head over heels" - especially the first four songs - gets my blood running.
