This is an honest question and not an attempt to get attention or look cool...
Watching films, playing games, and listening to music are all experiences that become even more powerful when drugs are involved.
I've removed the influence of skunk completely from my life, and it can be hard to enjoy those activities when you've always got that nagging thought saying, "this could be even more enjoyable and intense..."
I know that sounds fairly ridiculous, but it's something that is vaguely irritating me. Can anyone relate? Luckily, music creation is not affected at all, as I never found any pleasure in making music while in a non-sober state of mind. It would always sound crap the next day, and creating things is so mentally involving that you're hardly worrying about how "intense" the experience is.

I don't use recreational drugs and alcohol makes music sound wrong, although beer at concerts are a must cause the sound is mostly shit anyway.
so no, I can't relate

yeah i have a hard time making music stoned unless i'm doing something live with others. I think the live collab is a lot different from solo music making because you only have to focus on one aspect and other people get focus on their aspect so when you combine it all you are able to make a really cool jam. As opposed to going solo, you get so many thoughts in your head at one time, at the end of just trying to get one idea out you've lost the other ideas that go with it.

i used to be a massive pothead, had it firmly latched onto recreation time. just like any vice though i stopped in the end when i stopped enjoying it. my diet of electronic music now has a very different context, really brings back memories from crazy times past when i was still a unit with my old friends. i had my first smoke in years and years a few weeks ago, and it was awful. made me feel like a total monkey

Its not really the case with alcohol, I used to always think weed would make things more fun but really it just makes sitting down more satisfying and thats it. other drugs are different because they really change your experience

well it could become a new word- all you have to do is increase use and popularity of the word. Then after a fair few years and billions of people later we'll all be satisficated.

I'm half Bolivian =)
never really saw the appeal in drugs though to be honest, only ever smoked weed once and it had little impact on me (I presume I must've done it wrong) but now the thought of re-trying it just lacks that "I wonder what it's like" appeal. Music sounds worse when I'm drunk so I imagine it's pretty much the same with most recreational drugs - I'm probably wrong but that's my thoughts.

ive never really tried any decent/dodgy drugs. alcohol does it for me, and weed fumes from time to time, although that tends to just make me feel sick. sniffing board pens is nice too.

Well, actually it was a year and a bit ago. Stupidly, I did the stuff again a bit recently, which is probably what brought it back.
Hopefully it'll just dwindle away.

this is an element of psychological addiction. i used to work interviewing people with long term substance abuse problems, and these kinds of thoughts tend to follow attempts to quit. not surprisingly there's often a lot of conflict between the desire to experience the pleasure of drugs and the desire to be free of the negative effects of using drugs. these feelings are common and can be extremely intense with drugs like meth or cocaine.
i'm not saying that all use is abuse. also, different people have completely different experiences with psychological addiction (some people don't seem to experience it at all).
when you find yourself thinking these thoughts, try reminding yourself of the reasons you decided to quit in the first place. be wary of talking yourself into smoking again, if you've really resolved to give it up for good.

totally know what you mean. i smoke for more than ten years probably, most times at least a good night joint every evening. getting older i more and more try to expand the pauses in between due two several reasons. first and foremost i know that i simply got more power without, that getting up in the morning is much easier and that my abilities to concentrate improve. second i know that less smoking increases the mental effect (typical for all drugs i guess.. with weed especially relevant while listening to music) and minimizes the hang over.
i know that feeling that lacks when you´re watching movies, playing games etc, stuff you´re usually used to do with a stoned head. but my experience is that this gets better from week to week. and i always try to see it positively, cause i got better concentration, more power to get up afterwards etc.
